> Dan seemed to choke up there.
LOL, he sure did. They're evidently punishing him for his monumental screw-ups, making him read patriotic words that he detests in the depths of his soul.

That's the famous "Thousand Yard Stare", dude.
If the GI can see it, it's dead.

Rather's excellent tribute to the soldier is no surprise. Rather is a patriot and a former Marine himself. His journalistic mistakes don't negate his basic decency.

And it is Dan Rather (among others) who should have his feet held to the fire!

" wouldn't be surprised if he truly felt this way about the American Soldier."
Right. I think he was choked up because he doesn't have any dirt on the soldier. I am sure he will create something by tomorrow.

What a hypocritical piece of garbage. Kind of like the Volvo with the 'Support the Troops' bumper sticker next to the 'Kerry-Edwards' sign in the back window. This numbskull still thinks you can have it both ways, you cannot.
Betcha' this now famous soldier is a Bush supporter.

And the beginning of the pro-America, pro-values chirade of the liberal left begins. The start of a two to four year campaign for the 06' senate seats and the 08' presidency. Want proof? When, prior to the 04' election, did Rather or any other MSM ever show the pro-military side of things?

He sure is sucking up, all of a sudden he is Mr. Pro-military? What? No accusations of baby killers, or murderous pillagers of innocent freedom fighters?
Hypocrite.

Rather attempted to perpetrate a fraud on the American public - against a sitting president - during an election.I wouldn't care if he walked in my apartment and crapped a four-foot pile of gold, I'd still throw his ass out the window.....and I live on the eleventh floor of this building.

His hit piece on Pres. Bush, sorry, I mean his fraudulent hit piece on Pres. Bush was no mistake it was as deliberate as can be. Rather is no patriot and he is a disgrace to the Marine uniform. If I'm not mistaken he got out of the Marine Corp before he ever became a Marine. He's a POS.

A pretty decent little speech if Rather was indeed sincere but I wouldn't count on it by the mere fact that he's, oh, um, DAN RATHER! Where have you been these past few years (or 40 years for that matter)? Rather is about as phony and agenda-driven as left-wing anchors get.
I have a recurring dream involving Rather, me, and a lead pipe that I quite enjoy, scored to a certain R.E.M. tune : )

Captain Dan is a sick puppy. "Rational" is a word he can't even pronounce; he is driven by his emotions like most on the dark side. He may have occasional moments of
apparent lucidity, but they're fleeting and soon lost; don't be fooled by 'em. He's a fruitcake. Period.
Maybe he had a "come to Jesus" moment, but I doubt it. Otherwise he would spend the rest of his life apologizing to the rest of the sane world for his lunacy....beginning now. Just my thoughts.

John Kerry is not fit to be this man's commander in chief.

Yes but unfortunately my preconceptions of Rather get in the way of his tribute. Those word coming from someone I respect might be powerful. Unfortunately in my own shallow opinion it comes off as pandering.

Dan Rather is a raving lunatic. The man has no basic decency because he has no character. The epitome of empty suit.

John Kerry is not fit to be this man's commander in chief. IMO, J F'n Kerry is not fit to light this soldier's cigarette.

No wonder the Swift Boat Vets went after Kerry. Kerry was saying HE was This Soldier.

No wonder the Swift Boat Vets went after Kerry. Kerry was saying HE was This Soldier. In a nutshell. The Swifties knew what Jean F'n Keri was all about. "God and country" wasn't and isn't part of Keri's vocabulary. Neither is it Rather's unless it is to serve a selfish purpose.
