As the election campaign unfolded, operators of some of the internets politics-oriented blogs, no doubt high on the perfume of many "hits" and their own developing sense of community, envisioned a future when they would diminish then replace the traditional media as the nations primary source of political news and commentary. *** The public is now assaulted by news and pretend-news from many directions, thanks to the now infamous "information superhighway." But the ability to transmit words, we learned during the Citizens Band radio fad of the 70s, does not mean that any knowledge is being passed along. One of the verdicts rendered by election night 2004 is that, given their lack of expertise, standards and, yes, humility, the chances of the bloggers replacing mainstream journalism are about as good as the parasite replacing the dog it fastens on.

My question is 'Why would I want to read anything at CBS?'
They get it wrong time after time. I don't believe anyone thinks blogs and Internet chat are going to "replace" mainstream journalists. Where do they dream up this stuff? We simply want them to wake up, step outside their bubbles and see how biased they are, and admit it, and fix it. There will always be TV and radio newscasters, and print journalism. Silly CBS.
Humility?? Dude you are and your ilk should hold thy tongue regarding a lack of humilty...
The only remaining distinction separating traditional journalism outlets from the blogs is ACCESS TO SOURCES. Sources will act in their own self-interest; they will grant access to whoever has THE AUDIENCE THE SOURCE VALUES.
The Old Media still doesn't get it.
Especially coming from CBS this once again shows how out of touch they are. Im tired of hearing of their system of checks which any rational person knows fails in their bias. The internets system of checks is far more reliable. There are thousands of readers ready, willing and able to debunk any kind of misinformation, unlike the MSM who only answer to themselves. This sounds like wishful thinking...reality and their dwindling numbers say a different conclusion.
Why would I want to C BS?
;^)
You didn't bring your little liberal friend along with you today?
Pray for W and Our Troops
This from the bunch that jumped all over bogus exit polls (and probably helped create them). We're not planning on replacing you nimrods. We're planning on making your lying existence so miserable that you'll find work you're more qualified for, such as supersizing value meals.
LOL
Largely from CBS.
I think they are scared...
Sweating Bush II at CBSBUh-bye.

Players involved in the notorious 60 Minutes II story, reported by Dan Rather, which employed dubious documents regarding President Bushs National Guard service, may have been rooting for a John Kerry victory.
No, it wasnt that old bugaboo liberal media bias as much as it was a bias toward saving their own skins. The report from an internal investigation into the documents mess was purposely being held until after the election.
Pre-election, the feeling in some quarters at CBS was that if Kerry triumphed, fallout from the investigation would be relatively minimal. The controversial pieces producer, Mary Mapes, would likely be suspended or fired, but a long list of others up the chain of commandfrom 60 Minutes II executive producer Josh Howard, to Rather and all the way up to news division President Andrew Heywardwould escape more or less unscathed.
But now, faced with four more years of President Bush, executives at CBS parent Viacom could take a harder line on the executives involved.
Broadcasting & Cable
That sez it all!! And furthermore
given their lack of expertise, standards and, yes, humility,
Kettle=Black
