NEAR FALLUJAH, Iraq - More than 4,000 U.S. Marines and Army troops punched their way into northeastern Fallujah on Monday, kicking off a massive assault dubbed Operation Phantom Fury that seeks to put an end to half a year of insurgent control of the Sunni Muslim city.
The prelude to the assault on the Askari neighborhood was a crushing air and artillery bombardment of the city that rose to a crescendo by Monday evening, with U.S. strike jets dropping bombs around the clock and big guns pounding the city every few minutes with high-explosive shells.
Meanwhile, insurgents in Baghdad and nearby Ramadi tried to keep up the pressure on the coalition forces with new attacks, including one on a Catholic church in the capital.
Earlier Monday U.S. troops had fought their way into the city's western outskirts, seizing two bridges over the Euphrates River and helping Iraqi soldiers take the city's main hospital in the first stage of a major assault on the insurgent stronghold.

Yep, looks awesome. Now of only they will do something about replacing those 9mm's too. At least the Marines still carry .45's.

I want Kerry to run again too.
I am on the JEB/Kay Bailey Hutchinson bandwagon for the GOP to battle whomever emerges for the Dims.

MilNet: 24 hours a day, nothing but the US military. I agree. Accurate iformation is imparitive in modern warfair and, it's imparitive the Military use all the best technologies to diseminate that information.
Now that our Military is active around the globe, and the link between the people and it's military is so important, now is the time for this.

Some Marines carry .45s. I have a picture on my desk of a Marine in Afghanistan wearing a 9mm.

fortunately we are the party of campaigning FOR a candidate.. which means I have a little break (I hope) - I am still in a celebratory mood over the re-election. I will still go to two headquarters a few times a month to help out in various ways.. But right now here at DollyCali's home it is Operation Shovel Out.

Not that I don't agree with your premise . . . but from reading this thread . . . there doesn't appear to have been anything worth "reporting" on in Fallujah. Since I'm office bound, I don't know what CNN's coverage is saying -- but since no one here is posting anything about it, that must mean they're just rambling about . . . with no new information.
To: ChadGore
I would like to see that network cover other militaries also... but I would want some of the staff to BE active duty US military. The military embedded in the media not the other way around.

Could very well be. I just read an article on the weekend about the company making .45's for the Marines, and it seemed from that that the .45 was an official sidearm.
