**Workers' comp rates will remain unchanged in Oregon for the next two years. And the average cost of a four-bedroom home in Portland is at least 30 percent less than in major cities in Southern California.**
If this is true and people are moving to Oregon, then why does Oregon have one of the largest unemployment rolls?

We've been suffering a liberal legislature for well over a decade, not Arnold.
Beyond even liberal, I will call them an outright activist legislature.
As they should. If CA doesn't shape-up, it will become the first state in America to become a third world country.
For over a century, CA is one of the most prosperous state in the Union. but after 60 short years of liberalism and stupidity (redundant, I know) CA is going down the toilet.
Sigh...
True but Arnold, far from fixing the problems like he promised, has been making the problems worse. If the problem as you see it has been a leftist legislature how is Arnold taking steps further left helping the situation? You can't tell me that we need more voters on this one. He is already in office. Shouldn't he be at least nudging things to the right? Stop kissing his hind quarters and wake up. He is no good for this state.
You is preachin to de choir. Cal. is lost.
we need an emergency redistricting and to get rid of this safe districts scheme that both sides agreed to after the 2000 census.
Not so many years ago this state had a republican controlled state gubmint and governorships and did just fine,, at least until Pete wilson started the slide by allowing the passage of massive tax hikes, and in the late 90s , obviously all hell broke loose when activist judges overruled the vote of the people re: illegals and their receiving benefits,, since then, its been all down hill.
arnie's actions have not stemmed the hemorrhaging in the least as he borrowed bigtime and let the dems off the hook for having been overly generous with pension and social programs spending wise under the reign of Gray the Impaled..
I bought a new home in Vegas 14 months ago, and it has more than doubled. However, the bubble will burst there soon like it has so many times in California.
He is forcing reforms. Started out with the start of reform in worker's compensation (which needs more). He's actively courting people back to California.
It will take getting rid of Democrat control though to make the change we all want.
Wooohooo....we're famous for something
Oh, your still famous for being a state that is all but uninhabital half the year.
You don't pay workman's comp do you? Businesses are not going to come to California just because he has asked them to. Until there is real workman's comp reform and budget cuts, they won't come. He has not done the reformation he promises and has increased the budget and future budgets exponentially.
I know the reform was not enough and only a start, but again, it's like what happened with rebuilding Russia after the collapse, with those that caused the collapse still in power.
Exactly, Arnold is acting just like those who cause the collapse but you will never admit it. He is socialist and not a fiscal conservative either. I don't want Dems promoting socialism and I certainly don't want Republicans promoting socialism but that is what we got.
Actually, the prices in Cal have leveled off and cooled, and have been steady for the past 5 months. A good thing. Going up too fast for too long is not a good thing anywhere. Like many predicted 2 years ago, there aint going to be any bubble. This slowing in rising prices was welcome, trust me. Watch for prices to continue to rise, just a little slower, for the next 100 years. LOL. They just aint making no more prime realestate in Cal
Oh, and Vegas looks just like LA now, but in a hot, dry, windy desert...
Cheers!
Not at all, he does not want all these anti-business laws, restrictions and lawsuits against businesses.
He said that he will run his own show. That last year they co-operated on 20% of the state business and this year maybe he'll do it with 30%.
When they don't want to agree with Arnold, he will bring it before the people for a vote.
I was at a seminar where it was shown that you will be seeing a 1500% increase in foreclosures. So some hurt will be hitting the RE market.
Yep - at the end of the day, it's the numbers on the spreadsheet that do the talking. Anything else is just arm-waving.
BTW, Buck Knives just built themselves a nice facility in nearby Post Falls, Idaho. Hasta la vista, Kalifornia...
