Sunday Symposium: Moral values?
In my world - as a stay-at-home mom living in the Riverwest area of Milwaukee - I see a lot of progressives/liberals with very strong family values. I interact with families in this community through neighborhood organizations, schools, church and play- roups. These are people who are very careful about what their children eat, read, watch and do.
These progressive families - mine included - make many financial sacrifices so they can be with their children as much as possible. Many of the families choose to have one parent stay at home, or both parents work part-time, or they choose jobs with flexible schedules. The point is: We are progressives, we voted for John Kerry and we have very strong family values.
Conversely, there are plenty of conservative families - people who voted for President Bush - who focus on getting ahead financially over spending time with their children; let their children watch any sort of TV programs and movies and play video games with all kinds of immoral themes; and let their children dress and eat however the child chooses regardless of modesty and health.
No, the point is you and your progressive friends are seemingly intelligent people who failed to realize your stupendous naivete in being duped by an effete snob whose pursuit of the Presidency was to simply satisfy a self-centered lifelong dream.
Y'know, my children' attire had very little to do with my choice of Presidential candidate. Besides, those school uniforms take out all the guess-work, anyway.
I voted for President Bush because I am hopeful he will win the War on Terror. I would have never voted for John F. Kerry because I was absolutely convinced that he would capitulate in the War on Terror, with disasterous results for my children and my children's children.
Guess that just makes me a dumba$$!
"These progressive families - mine included - make many financial sacrifices so they can be with their children as much as possible. Many of the families choose to have one parent stay at home, or both parents work part-time, or they choose jobs with flexible schedules"
You know, I was insulted by a bunch of liberals because I was 6 months pregnant holding a 9 month old and a stay at home mom. They laughed at me for being so stupid. Maybe I'm prejudice, but I don't put much stock in the above statement. {By the way, they didn't have a clue that the babies weren't my only children.}
Yo! Y'ever hear of the bell-shaped curve, lady?
EAT? What the heck does watching what your kids EAT have to do with moral values and the election?
MM
"Values" include NOT allowing a TRAITOR to be president. What is so hard to understand about that?"
That is it for me! I agree completly
Jane Fonda Kerry bits the dust!
"I question the timing of this letter."
Right-on!
Check out homeschoolers - they ain't yer basic "progressive" families for the largest part. I suspect this is an attempt to set up the co-opting of traditional family values. Truth is, if a study was done, you'd find a whole lot more "progressive" families (if you could call some of them that) are FAR more into self-interests and careers. Didn't they, after all, invent the notion of the two-career family so that women wouldn't be cheated of achievement and the pursuit of their personal interests?
Most "progressives" I know a immature, self-absorbed idiots with a pop-culture understanding of the history, world and themselves.
Gag me with a spoon! If this isn't tripe, what is?
Only a democrat would claim family values and still support a party that is for abortion and gay-marriage. Not to mention a President that had oral sex in the oval office with a woman young enough to be his daughter and then lied about it under oath.
Moral equivalancy in reverse?
