spRectum should have been aborted in the GOP primary, but his bacon was saved by President Bush. NOW, there is a weak link on our side of the aisle whereas advancing the agenda is concerned. And that is having Arlen Specter Chair the Judiciary Committee. This can not be allowed to happen. spRectum is the kind of GOP US Senator (RINO) that we've all warned you RINOs about, but "NOOOOOOO", people don't listen. Do NOT let spRectum be the obstacle to the Bush agenda and usurpt Bush's CERTIFIABLE MANDATE to continue bringing common sense and sanity to America.

Well, I guess this never made news outside of Philadelphia, but the day after the election the Inquirer had a front page headline saying "Specter: Bush Has No Mandate." I guess a week's worth of fury from people all over the country has not been enough to change this arrogant bastard.

What hacks me off the most about this is that Specter knows damn well the media are going to be drawn to him like flies to a pile of new bull poop. The MSM are dying for a story about the GOP being divided and not 100% behind President Bush, and also they want to keep flogging abortion rights as the biggest issue in America.

For me...that is the signal from the White House to let him be.
I can only deduce that they've made some quid pro quo deals concerning Specter's election and W's nominees.

I'll now hold my fire. Once we merge with the enemy on the nominees I'll watch for Specter's activity. If at that point he gets in the way, the White House will turn on him and I'll get back to going after him.

For now it is clear, the White House will obliquely support him...therefore I cease fire.

Did you hear it too? Pres. Bush has no mandate, and furthermore, 55 is not 60 (senators). Gee I thought it was a majority. I guess he's counting on filibusters. Hope they derail his appointment to the committee. He's no Republican.

Well, you can disagree whether a 3% margin in the vote constitutes a mandate. It's a win, but not a land slide. Remember service in the Senate is based on seniority and it's a system that none of the want to upset out of self interest. If I had to bet, I'd say that Arlen is safe.
