Tracy Pierce didn't get to vote. She'd been registered for years but had moved and didn't know that this affected her voting status. She wasn't on any voter list that could be found. An election monitor told her to go to another precinct and ask for a provisional ballot. Another voting adviser told her that, not having voted for a few years and not being in the Board of Elections database, she would likely cast a ballot that would eventually be thrown out. So she went home.
The only 2 people I know who intended to vote for John Kerry were voting for the first time in their life this election. They were between the ages of 18 and 22. One of them couldn't vote because she didn't put the right address down on her registration, the other one didn't vote because she had a hair appointment. They both "speak correct grammar". Both have SAT scores over 1350. Now,who are you calling DUMB?
" GWB can't even speak correct grammar."
So, grammer is your top criterion in deciding for whom to vote? Pedant. Language is an instrument to convey an idea. W achieves that, all the while speaking in an engaging manner. Who doesn't love his Bushisms? I use "misunderestimated" all the time. And although he never actually said it, I am a huge fan of "strategery." Whereas JK fancied himself an intellectual--or, someone who uses a lot of words to say nothing. I find it difficult to believe that your most damning critique of our President is taking a swipe at his grammer. Maybe you should pen an editorial for the NY Times--the Pulitzer is yours!
The Nation. Katrina Von Whatever: "Prau-cess" "Prau-cess"
ie. I'm a vapid liberal shill but I look good and have Saruman down pat.
The Dems used to spout the same line about Ike in the '50s. It didn't work then and it doesn't work now.
My daughter was 23 in 2000 and had a similar experience because of College and moves in and out of our house since 1996. She went to the Registrar's office, they found her on the voter list and she voted. It took her several hours, but she voted...for Bush.
...."He is a great man with a great vision and we love him!!!
YES!!!!!!
GWB can't even speak correct grammar.
"Shove it".
To which I add, "Well, bless your heart. Shove it."
And, if this presumption is correct, what does it say about the Democrat party?
Other liberal writers, however, are screeching that it is Republican voters who are "ignorant" and "unteachable". And they assert, in turn, that Democrat voters are the only bright ones on the planet.
They really need to get their story straight on this before '08, don't you think?
---She'd been registered for years but had moved and didn't know that this affected her voting status. ---
The clueless are very often losers.
PERFECT Analysis of what the dim party is about. Our NUMBER 1 priority over the next 4 years. Starting TODAY should be to institute statewide list of registered voters...to drop all those dims registered in two states the "right" to cheat. And ALSO DEMAND that valid USA id be given with every vote. If absentee ballots cannot be verified with id, they should not be counted.
Well Said!
A point we all need to remember as well.
Pravda consults the Nation on how to be a good commie. This rag is so lefty you gotta show an ACLU card to get a subscription. Katrina Vandenhooker or whater her moniker might be is like a she devil. She's always angry and knows everything. If this voter is so stupid that the one or two things like keeping a current registration status or showing up with ID are too hard, do we really need her to vote? I think we should have a new national registration with biometetrics and eliminate all this fraud. There should also be a data base connected with prisons and morgues to help dump the felons and craokers. The Nation? What Nation, china?
"Maybe if we put cameras at the polls, they'd go there and actually VOTE!"
Only if you could assure them of their 15 minutes of fame. In some polling places it only takes 5 minutes .. so cameras might not be enough of an incentive. [if I need a sarcasm tag - you're not paying attention]
