Actually homosexality is not viewed so harshily in islamic culture. Pretty endemic in cultures where women are hidden, denigrated, etc.

Right. Homosexual activity is rampant amongst Muslims, but as long as a man is at least willing to marry a woman and sire children, few care if he keeps a whole harem of boys. In other words, homosexual activity is acceptable as a side dish, but not the main course.
