They are boycotting republican companies, so we boycott dems companies. It will balance out. How many times do they need to lose?
Click any industry, then click the "Top Contributors" link in the upper left.
Here are some examples:
Big repug donors (80% or more to repugs):
Outback Steakhouse (#2 donor in Food & Bev industry), $485,698, 2% to Dems, 98% to pukes Wendy's (#5 donor in Food & Bev industry), $230,600, 9% to Dems, 91% to pukes Pizza Hut Franchisees Assoc. (#11 in Food & Bev), $114,500, 5% to Dems, 95% to pukes Valero Energy (#1 in Oil & Gas), $639,775, 15% to Dems, 85% to pukes. Note that Valero Energy is Diamond-Shamrock, Beacon, and Total gas stations. I am cutting up my Diamond-Shamrock card NOW and sending it in with a nasty note. ExxonMobil (#3 in Oil & Gas), $549,017, $11% to Dems, 88% to pukes ChevronTexaco (#5 in Oil & Gas), $390,081, $17% to Dems, 83% to pukes Marathon Oil (#8 in Oil & Gas), $250,308, 19% to Dems, 81% to pukes Pilot Corporation (#10 in Oil & gas), $214,081, 0 to Dems, 100% to pukes, also note that the son of the founder of Pilot Truck Stops is the 'puke mayor of Knoxville, Tenneessee, spent his family fortune to buy the seat. Safeway (#3 in food stores), $136,350, 17% to Dems, 83% to pukes Coors Brewing (#9 in beer/wine), $156,075, 14% to Dems, 86% to pukes (worst of all major brewers) Home Depot (#2 in retail sales), $677,370, 6% to Dems, 94% to pukes Wal-Mart (#1 in retail sales), $1,875,557, 19% to Dems, 81% to pukes Amway (#7 in retail sales), $238,288, 0 to Dems, 100% to pukes Circuit City (#12 in retail sales), $116,550, 3% to Dems, 97% to pukes
I say bring every one of the above companies down in flames. (legally of course..)
Here's where to spend more money - Big Dem donors (80% or more to Dems): Hard Rock Cafe Costco Bashas Brown & Cole Food Stores Hyatt Corporation (hotels) Random House (book publisher) Chronicle Books E&J Gallo Winery Barnes & Noble Bed, Bath, & Beyond
Oil companies - where to fill up? These are the only two. The best of a bad lot. Boycott ALL the others: Shell Oil, #14 in Oil & Gas, $188,898, 57% to Dems, 43% to pukes Citgo, donations not large enough to appear on the Open Secrets top 20 for its industry, owned by Venezuela's state owned oil company
If you smoke: R.J. Reynolds (#2 in Tobacco - RJR also owns Brown & Williamson now), $821,350, 9% to Dems, 91% to pukes
vs the others: Altria Group (aka Philip Morris - #1 in tobacco), $935,862, 40% to Dems, 60% to pukes Lorrilard (#4 in tobacco), $137,250, 35% to Dems, 65% to pukes Swisher (cigars - #7 in tobacco), $55,000, 63% to Dems, 37% to pukes Liggett Vector Group (generic cigarettes - #12 in tobacco), $22,750, 91% to Dems, 9% to pukes
R.J. Reynolds is also on the AFL-CIO boycott list and has been since the 1950s. If you smoke, don't smoke any RJR brands, and let them know why.
There's a lot more, we just need some good Dems to scour opensecrets.org for info. Please post your findings in this thread and keep it kicked, also somebody could put together a list of the worst offenders and create a .pdf sheet of companies to boycott.
I'm with you 100%. This is WAR. We must rid this country of the repug menace - totally and for all time. Companies that donate to pukes should be targeted for union organizing drives, boycotts, and pickets. I'll post other ideas for activism on other fronts in other posts - such as how to fight the religious right on their own turf.
I wouldn't worry about a Democrat boycott. They generally have the staying power (and memory) of a fruit fly.
Since when do they work to earn any money to boycott anything?!

Well, I never used any of those listed except for one, which I will stop going to now. Thanks for telling me Dems!
let them boycott, I'll happy eat at Outback every night. Let them be so stupid as to not put gas in their cars or shop at WalMart...who cares? Only 1 of 100 will do it anyway, as we know they are all just mouthy little b*tches anyway...let them not buy any food, or gasoline, or clothing...duh, they just continue to show their stupidity.
This is sad.
Do they think Republican companies only hire Republicans?
Do they think only Republicans buy stock in Republican companies?
They are cutting off their nose to spite their face.
That being said, cancel your Progressive Insurance when you have the time ; )
Great that they put this list together for us!
So easy to turn upside down.
Please note:
Linen & Things ACCEPTS Bed, Bath & Beyond coupons!
Marriot supports Republicans.
A lot of them are spoiled rich kids who are only "Progressive" because it pi$$es off their parents.
These are the kids who inhabit Ann Arbor and are perpetual students.
I'll post other ideas for activism on other fronts in other posts - such as how to fight the religious right on their own turf.

LOL! What idiocy.
Was it the IRS who said that churches who prayed for Bush would loose tax exempt status? These people fear the power of God and show it by fighting those who worship Him.
It won't work.
Somehow, I don't think Wendy's and Pizza Hut's bottom lines are going to reflect their boycott.
Good. That means I won't have to wait outside so long to get into Outback
LOL, I never frequent any of the ones on their "support" list anyway, (aside from the very infrequent foray into the B&N by the mall, which I won't be doing anymore, since the Unfit for Command debacle), and have been happily enjoying many on the "Puke" list for years! See, even subconsciously, I always turn to the right! I find it amusing.
Here's a great site to find a list of "actors" and "artists" (parenthesis added on purpose) to begin a liberal boycott list.

What's amusing is most of that "support" is by OFFICERS of the corporations in question, not the corporations themselves.
Corporations owe their allegiance to their STOCKHOLDERS, not their HIRED HELP. . .

I'm not patronizing these morons that's for sure.
thanks for the progressive info, i am changing policies and they were one of the companies i was looking at, so its not really a boycot, just a negative for them.
Interesting that Costco is a big Dem contributor. Now I know more of why I hate going to that zoo, regardless of the prices...
If I read this correctly, Wendy's is a big Republican Donor company. Therefore, I plan to show my support by buying a large frosty on my way home today.
