METHUEN, Mass. -- A 10-year-old girl was killed when her father parked his truck in a pile of leaves in which she and a friend were hiding, the family said. The other girl was seriously injured.
Family members said 36-year-old construction worker James Gravel did not know he had run over the girls until he got out and heard daughter Natalie calling him.
"She said, 'Daddy, I can't breathe,"' said Gravel's sister, Jennifer Gravel.
Natalie died at a hospital of head and chest injuries. Eight-year-old Meredith Reid was in critical condition Thursday.
Police said no charges were planned.
Gravel's two other children, ages 11 and 7, were in the truck at the time.
Ok, I promise to dedicate one of them to you. I'm meeting my wife for a few, I'll say, "Honey, you should have seen the heartless SOB I was talkin' to today". "This one's to him" .
:^}
oh no! don't imply anything! Dont' infer since it might lead to deduction. that might lead to reason and insight. never read between the lines - you might find out something you don't like.
then again you might find out that you are smarter than you thought! or the story wasn't written particularly well, or that something doesn't add up.
You guys need to move to California...THe only thing you have to worry about in your driveway is someone trying to take off with your car...
HAH! very good! but but can i be heartless and STILL be an activist judge? please?
they get anywhere near my jaguar and they're toast:-) my watchcat Alpo will tear them limb from limb!
Well if you burned down your house I would have compassion for you....
Miller.. yuk!
Wonder what you do with your microwave
Underneath it all, I suspect most of the are heartless even though they don't think so.
Only a truly heartless SOB could execte the innocent while excusing the guilty.
Don't blame ya!
The HOA told me a couple weeks ago if I continued to park in my driveway one more time the tow truck was coming...
OMG WE AGREE!!! oh happy day!
you are, of course right (when we aqgre;-)). i beleive the concept is called killing with kindness. it's like spoiling children. it feels good at the time, but it has bad long term consequences.
cheers!
HOA? don't let the tow truck park in leaves!
but why can't you park in your own driveway? (It's more comfortable to park on the couch, inside where there's privacy y'know)
I can see any number of reasons why one drives over a pile of leaves, but the responsibility for any mishaps that occur is on the driver for not knowing what's in his path.
guy ran over my neighbor's cat. not his fault, the cat tried to run past as he was putting along (he WAS putting, 15 mph tops), and went splat. The guy took the cat to my neighbor, and accepted responsibility since he was the operator of the vehicle. not hsi fault, but his responsibility.
there's a big hue and cry over here about whether this guy was right or wrong when he hit a dog and didn't stop because his wife was upset and hysterical. dog's fault, guys responsibility. this one's not over yet, but if you can beleivce this: I'm not involved.
Button up your blouse dear, your heart is popping out.
Miller.. yuk! ?
No one asked you to drink it. Stick to your pickle juice. LOL
Wonder what you do with your microwave
Popcorn
lol!
Sometimes this place is like a Nazi Camp. Your not allowed to park in your private driveway, the car has to be in the garage, you cannot park on the street if you have a visitor they can only stay 24 hours if they are there longer you have to go to the HOA and buy a 50.00 parking pass....
Oh you also can't leave the garage open because no one wants to see in your garage no matter how clean it is.
And don't throw bread over the fence to the birds or you get a fine...I was so mad about that I tossed a bowl of spaghetti over the fence...
LOL~! feeding all them eye-talian bords, eh?
I have a small fleet of cats that tends to keep the birds, squirrels, etc. entertained (except Alpo who's downright dangerous).
Your the one who is pickled..Where do you live Hooterberry?
I have Zorro but he is lazy and lame he does like lizards but if takes alot of energy forget it..We have a 100lb rabbit in the back where I live...What is Alpo?
Alpo used to be a cute white and black kitten. now he is the terror of the neighborhood. He'll let you pet him unless you come into the yard, then he'll claw at you. he has managed to instill fear in every dog in the street (including a pit bull), who avoid him at all costs.
only thing he don;'t tangle with (thankfully) is the skunk, who doesn't bother anybody.
He went away during the summer, but came back a few weeks ago. he was living down tha street taming some new acquaintences. All the neighbors like to tell Alpo stories.
He came in one christmas with his eye all but torn out by somtthing. I nursed him back to health, but as soon as he could, he went back outside and tangled with hit again. By spring he had it bested. I think it was a racoon.
