oh no! don't imply anything! Dont' infer since it might lead to deduction. that might lead to reason and insight. never read between the lines - you might find out something you don't like.

then again you might find out that you are smarter than you thought! or the story wasn't written particularly well, or that something doesn't add up.

Underneath it all, I suspect most of the are heartless even though they don't think so.

Only a truly heartless SOB could execte the innocent while excusing the guilty.

Don't blame ya!

The HOA told me a couple weeks ago if I continued to park in my driveway one more time the tow truck was coming...

HOA? don't let the tow truck park in leaves!

but why can't you park in your own driveway? (It's more comfortable to park on the couch, inside where there's privacy y'know)

don't tell me that since your truck is tall enough that you can park on a foot high pile of leaves that you're inferring that our methuen guy's truck is like that too?

I'm just as free to infer THAT as you are to infer that it's NOT. But that's my point - I'm not going to make an assumption about it, but you already have.

what would you have done had there been a rake buried in that pile of leaves and punctured your tires?

What would you do if somebody went and put nails under your tires just prior to you rolling forward? That's probably more likely than having a rake hidden in my leaf pile without me knowing about it. Would that enough other people touched a rake around here that I would have cause to wonder.

That's the crux of the matter - I have absolutely no reason to expect to find a rake buried under my leaves. I have one rake, I'm the only one that uses it, and I know where it is. If I'm constantly having to look for the rake because other people are constantly using it, then perhaps I would have more cause to worry. Without knowing these details, you have no way of knowing whether or not I should be worried about hidden rakes. Likewise, you know nothing about what expectations this guy should or shouldn't have had.

Is it really so hard to fathom that somebody might need to drive over a lousy pile of leaves?

or the story wasn't written particularly well,

I believe I made this point already. And yet, you continue to tease out "facts" from a flawed story to establish negligence on the part of the dad.

But maybe we can bring a little California out here. We could pass a little "leaf control" legislation, maybe... ;-)

I can see any number of reasons why one drives over a pile of leaves, but the responsibility for any mishaps that occur is on the driver for not knowing what's in his path.

guy ran over my neighbor's cat. not his fault, the cat tried to run past as he was putting along (he WAS putting, 15 mph tops), and went splat. The guy took the cat to my neighbor, and accepted responsibility since he was the operator of the vehicle. not hsi fault, but his responsibility.

there's a big hue and cry over here about whether this guy was right or wrong when he hit a dog and didn't stop because his wife was upset and hysterical. dog's fault, guys responsibility. this one's not over yet, but if you can beleivce this: I'm not involved.

lol!
Sometimes this place is like a Nazi Camp. Your not allowed to park in your private driveway, the car has to be in the garage, you cannot park on the street if you have a visitor they can only stay 24 hours if they are there longer you have to go to the HOA and buy a 50.00 parking pass....

Oh you also can't leave the garage open because no one wants to see in your garage no matter how clean it is.

And don't throw bread over the fence to the birds or you get a fine...I was so mad about that I tossed a bowl of spaghetti over the fence...

Alpo used to be a cute white and black kitten. now he is the terror of the neighborhood. He'll let you pet him unless you come into the yard, then he'll claw at you. he has managed to instill fear in every dog in the street (including a pit bull), who avoid him at all costs.

only thing he don;'t tangle with (thankfully) is the skunk, who doesn't bother anybody.

He went away during the summer, but came back a few weeks ago. he was living down tha street taming some new acquaintences. All the neighbors like to tell Alpo stories.

He came in one christmas with his eye all but torn out by somtthing. I nursed him back to health, but as soon as he could, he went back outside and tangled with hit again. By spring he had it bested. I think it was a racoon.
