Schumer: Hillary Clinton front-runner for 2008 race
Associated Press ^ | Thursday, November 4, 2004

Senator Charles Schumer says fellow New York Democratic Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton is the front-runner for the party's 2008 presidential nomination.

But Schumer attributes that to "other people speculating" about the former first lady's future plans. Schumer says he believes Clinton's focus remains on serving New York in the US Senate.

There's speculation that she could be a major contender for the 2008 nomination. Before that, she'll face re-election for her Senate seat in 2006.

Schumer's comments were made this morning at an Albany supermarket as he began the second day of a three-day tour across the state to thank voters for his record-setting re-election victory on Tuesday.

Schumer is refusing to address speculation he'll use the re-election win as a stepping stone to running for governor in 2006.

It will be a sad day if she were to be elected as president.

Kerry isn't even room temperature yet.

Where's the condolences to him, the "he put up a good fight" stuff from his brethren? Isn't there a grieving period?

>snif.

Didn't this election teach you anything?

Hillary Clinton may be consistently named as one of the most respected people in America, but she always makes the most despised lists as well.

Dick Morris was just on Howie Carr's radio show - says Condi Rice should run. Also says that if Hillary wins, BJ will be the real president.

LOL! I clicked in to type those exact words... Bring it on! Truthfully, I DO think they are just dumb enough to try it. Pathetic.

Yeah, Schumer would like to get her out of the Senate because she sucks all the air out of anything he tries to do.

Could they please give it a rest for a couple of months or so - we just endured 2 years of their non stop rhetoric and I am definitely not ready to hear 4 years of Hillary crap every time I turn on the radio or TV.
Somebody shut them up!!!!!!

She has 4 years as Senator and that is it. This makes her 2 years less qualified than John Edwards! Oh so being first lady puffs up her resume. If this were "really" the case Laura Bush would beat her in a California landslide! But somehow I doubt voters, as much as they love her, feel Laura Bush is qualified to be President.

They just don't get it do they? The Clintons are the problem, not the solution.
If true, the GOP has it sewn up for eight more years, not just four.

I hope and PRAY they nominate Hillary! An automatic 296 electoral votes will be locked up for the Republican nominee before the first campaign flier hits the door post!
