The Daily Mirror: A large pic of Bush with this caption: How can 59,054,087 be so dumb!
To quote President Bush: "America has no truer friend than Great Britain."
Some of you need to listen to your President & engage your brains before opening you mouths.
And on the British side we had with stupid General and the SS Standartenfuhrer sorry I mean British colonel leading his Einsatzgruppe I mean Cavalry troop on anti partisan duties.
Burning that church with all the people inside straight out of the Eastern Front.
Cheer TonyTony
What I do need to do is proof read, but with so many to reply to tend to skip that.
Cheers Tony
You started out ok. But maybe this is why even someone like me who has served alongside the Americans and enjoyed there company can get pissed of with the yanks.
As soon as you think we might not like you, you trot out the same cr*p
Either way, a press( or a people) who have a government that still believes in colonies, has its Parliament dressed from several centuries back and puts up with a Royal family that is morally bankrupt, doesn't have much right to find fault with others. At least we don't have an heir apparent who is none too bright, had his too-popular wife knocked off, and who wants to be a tampon! Any Brits who don't like W had best start focusing more on Chuck. Talk about a Royal disgrace!
In otherword we may be your allies we may be good enough to shed our blood with your boys but deep down you still hate us Brits.
Tony
re: The Mirror and Le Monde and other house organs globally of Marxism/anti-Americanism--do recall that the God-fearing, freedom-loving decent people are still there, unfortunately their party is not in power. I say we invade France and Britain after we finish in Iraq and Cuba!
Viva La Revolucion!
...in the case of England, in Blair's SUPPORT, I must add!
I mean look at Ralph Fiennes in Schindler's List, Kevin Branagh in Conspiracy, or Peter Sellers in Dr Strangelove.
I mean that Group Captain Mandrake character was just creepy.
These UK/US flame wars are pointless.
Yanks - never forget that British troops are fighting and dying alongside American troops. 3 BW just today. Yes, we have our liberals but so do you and the liberal wing of the press, particularly the downmarket end like the Mirror just reflect the standards of the gutter in which they live (the Mirror's sales are plunging BTW). You might also reflect on how the only two unprotected groups in Hollywood movies are Brits and rednecks/Christians.
Brits - don't rise to it. There is an anti British minority on here. There is no point arguing with them and there is nothing to be gained by trading insults. There are plenty of fat Brits and I've seen some pretty unfortunate American dentition.
However, I will chip in on The Patriot. As I have posted before this film is a blood libel on the British people. The church massacre is indeed a real historical event only it was perpetrated by the SS Das Reich division at Oradour. What incenses conservative Brits like me is the fact that the film was made by a bloody German.
See http://www.oradour.info/
I would always have described myself as a pro american brit.
Yet these comments astonish me, for decades american and british soldiers have died side by side. Wether it be the recent iraq deaths, the brit and us marines fighting side by side at chosin, or the glosters fighting at imjin river in korea.
Yet, when a rag ridiculed in the UK prints a silly picture and stupid editorial all the old contempt for the brits comes bubbling up. The heroics of battle of britain pilots is forgotten in favour of 'we saved your ass' and the same tired old 'bad teeth' jokes come to the fore.
When americans such as moore post bile i very much doubt you critisise all americans as a result. The eagerness of many here to associate an entire country with 'the mirror' indicates to me that while our soldiers are good enough to die with you, deep down there is hatred and contempt for the british held my many americans.
Regards
offense = offence
Irony = Priceless
Please do I look forward to kicking your ass from John o Groats to Lands end and back again.
Cheers Tony

That deep down the Americans do and have always held us in contempt.
At the slightest provocation they trot out all the usual rubbish.
I have been on this site for four years on and off and there have been a whole series of anti Brit stories.
They seem to take an almost perverse delight in loading stories that show Britain in a bad light, stories about crime, the economy and other problems that afflict all countries through out history and then you have reply after reply talking about what a useless nation we are, with lots of anti brit jokes in-between.
The only way to deal with them is to get down to there level.
I know this is a bit school boyish, but none of these Yank/Brit flame wars have ever been started by a brit.
Cheers Tony
Were it not for my being subjected to English cooking (Cow tongue and boiled vegetables!?!) and having braces in my youth, I'd tell you to treat the anti-Brit jibes like so much water off a duck's back.
Be that as it may, all you have to do is stumble into one of our many North/South threads to see that our bile isn't reserved only for foreigners - when I was back East in the late '80's the State of Pennsylvania had a sign on their southern border to the effect that "The United States of America starts here."
American Actors tend to be rather one or two dimensional at most rather like Americans in general. So as a good guy you just have to be nice and a little gormless
Cheeky wink
Cheers Tony
We should count their circulation numbers and ask them all the same question.
Where do you get off sending me scurrying to a dictionary at 0319 in the morning? Put a check on your banter there, buddy - keep yer 'cabbage crates over the briny' to yourself, please.
Now as to English actors, all I have to say is that yes, the sceptered isles may produce some fine thespians, but you'll have to admit that they have to come to America to reach their true potential:
Sir Alec Guiness? Unknown save for his role as Obi Wan Kenobi in an American film.
Ian McKellan? Again, unknown were it not for his role in Lord of the Rings, an American film*.
Dame Judy Dench? Never heard of her.
Rowan Atkinson in "Bean"? You owe us for that one. Big time.
*Poetic license, so there.
And another thing any film we produce has to have a standard American actor or actress in it, just so that Americans will watch it.
I will agree with you about Mr. Bean cant believe someone who gave us Black Adder also gave us Mr. Bean.
What do I hate about American TV, wise cracking grannies, whiney kids, when it comes to whiney kids you Americans have us beat hands down, whiney women who get upset at the drop of a hat, dumb nerds called Eugene who wear bow ties, those types who say you want my badge you got my badge, people who shake there head when they are talking, Robin Williams with his stupid voices, and so on and so forth.
I dont mind films with American cheer leaders in them, I feel they have some cultural value.
Cheers Tony
Yeah, well that just gets back to that whole soccer/football thing and your repressed feelings about which is the superior sport, now doesn't it?
Kill your television Tony - you'll be a better man for it, and get to save on those TV licensing fees y'all have to pay over there.
No wonder you need cheer leaders and half time shows.
Tony
