I was thinking that states should adopt an electoral system for there counties the same way the federal system does for the states...large counties seem to have too much direct influence over the smaller counties. To have 3 counties overwhelm the other 36 counties in a state is just unfair!
It does create a lot of bitterness -- some of which you can get a sense for on this thread. The counties of central and eastern Washington, and even to some extent southwestern Washington, feel not connection whatsoever to the Puget Sound Megalopolis. They're as different as chalk and cheese. In some ways it's a perfect microcosm of our nation as a whole. If some kind of break between areas ever comes, you will see this state split apart just like Virginia did in 1861.
Ya know, that idea isn't half bad. The only problem is, if we got this brought up for a vote, those three counties would vote it down (it would be in the leftist's self-interest to do so) and we'd be right back at square one ;0)
