I am so happy to hear that. I was looking at the Washington board for all the counties and it appears that Rossi has more votes in all the counties except King and a couple more. Even in those counties it looks to me like they are close. King County had the most difference with Gregroir having about 10,000 more.

I just can't believe that the people passed that Initiative. They just could not have understood what it said. "Top 2 vote getters regardless of party" Like you said, two Democrats would be on the general ballot for Govenor.
You say you prefered the open primary. Why?
My opinion is that each party should have the right to select who they want to represent them. Democrats shouldn't come into the Republican primary and cast enough votes that it tips it to a Republican we may not have really wanted to represent us. The same thing goes the other way. Republicans shouldn't be able to go into Democrat primaries. It is in the General Election you then have the choice to cross over.
I lived in Calif for 18 years and we always voted a straight ticket in the primaries. When we moved back to Washington where I had grown up, the way they did the primaries here was strange to me.
There'll be a recount. If Christine Grigoire prevails, blame it on brain-dead liberals in Kings County, the same folks who've given WA State Patty Murray and John Kerry. It would be shame if the GOP can't win the Governor's Office in the Evergreen State.
Good luck in getting rid of Maria Cantwell. I fear WA State is as gone to the Left as California.

Sorry for my bit of ill-humor...used to like Keyes. Would love to see Cantwell replaced, but last night proved WA, like CA, is way too liberal for me. Two of the dumbest people in America have new 6-year terms in the Senate. Where they will find great support & comfort from our newly re-elected Scottish Lawyer.
On the bright side, they will no longer have Little Tom to inspire them!

After the crapola the King County Council did last week w our property rights (only in the non-urban areas, of course) I think we should create at least 2-3 counties for us folks that don't live in Seattle. When I lived in Denver, there was the city and county of Denver, then the suburbs had a few counties - think it works better that way.
The KC Council dictating to the the burbs is like the northeast legislators (Clinton, Kennedy, Kerry, et al) telling us who live in the West, what is best for us (read drilling in Anwar, forest management, environmental issues (such as the crapola WA had to face with losing jobs in the timber industry several years ago due to the Owls, etc., etc.) /stepping down off the soapbox now

When I was house shopping a few years back, I deliberately looked ONLY in Pierce County even though I work in Seattle. The commute sucks, but I'm SOOO glad I don't live in King County (and glad I don't have to pay for the stupid, worthless monorail).
Let's get all the conservatives to leave King County and move to districts where they'll actually be represented, and where their votes can actually matter. Let King County and Baghdad Jim run themselves into the ground.
If the Seattle economy became more like it was in the 70's/80's, maybe they'll get a clue again and learn to become business friendly.
I was involved with the Dixy Lee Ray Governors race as a volunteer grunt during the primary. She had absolutely no party backing, the Democratic party hoped she would loose and they had their own candidate. The team around Dixy caused her to win the primary as a Democratic candidate.
The Democratic party machine was stunned. They immediately came and tried to run rough shod over the volunteers who helped her win the primary. There was a real interesting truce that ended up getting her elected as the first woman Governor of the State.
Later the Dem party stabbed her in the back and she had some character weaknesses in being drawn out and attacking the press that didn't play well. Ultimately she was a one-term Governor, who was not allowed to accomplish much by the actions of both party machines.
I personally feel that the Republican Contract with America that too control of the House away from the Dem's did more good than many can imagine, mostly by causing so many entrenched democratic staff to have to leave Washington DC to get jobs elsewhere. Getting rid of staff and committee staff was what helped change the culture slightly of Washington DC.
The point of this response is that an entrenched political machine is not something I am thrilled about. This state has a populist & Grange history and our "initative process" is part of the legacy. When this state has been hamstrung by political party logjams, the initiative has cut through and gotten change accomplished. The open primary is part of the populist and Grange history and has served us well in the past.
When just about anyone can walk into a courthouse and sign up as a candidate and declare their party preference it forces the party machine to try to make sure they have groomed good candidates that don't get clobbered by some citizen stepping forward. It doesn't often happend, but every once in a while it does and it keeps the system honest, in my opinion and experience.
Otherwise, we're reduced to running out Dan Evans RINOs to win, and that's a hollow victory at best...
Eastern Washington deserves fair representation. They are not getting it. Secession is an extreme option but, barring some catastrophic social reform to bring Seattle/King Co. closer to the center, it may be the only alternative. Then E. Washington would control the Dams ;-)
I'm not prepared for this conversation but I think living in Bellevue, I'm not paying for the Seattle Monorail. At the same time, I'm paying for the Sound Transit Light Rail Ron Sims fiasco.

Still working on them. It's been frustrating at times, but I am back on it as we speak. Thanks for remembering. Getting a new AG for the state of Washington should help get things wrapped up in the faitrly near future.

about Rossi.....I was afraid of King county..I noticed last night or early this am that they had tons of votes yet....
I never expected Rossi to win...afterall, this is all demonrat, all the time, and even with the terrible budget crisis year in and year out, people keep putting them in office..
I hope Dino can pull this off..maybe for a change, the late votes will fall for him and not the RAt.....
