It is with profound relief and gratitude to all the volunteers, voters, the Swift Vets for Truth, campaign staff, etc., that I type up today's edition of A Day in the Life of the Re-elected President Bush.
As we now know, Bush received more votes than any previous US president, America saw a record voter turnout, and the US Congress picked up votes to increase the GOP margin in both Houses. Mandate? YES!
Stocks surged Wednesday, with the Dow Jones industrials posting a triple-digit gain moments after the opening bell, as investors expressed relief following the election and victory for President Bush.
Some international reaction: Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and Russian President Vladimir Putin on Wednesday said an election victory by President Bush would strengthen the United States and benefit their countries.
Enjoy your visit to Sanity Island!!!!! We have successfully defended our beaches and borders, and our Coast Guard is commissioned to maintain its patrols for Four More Years!
For months I've been eagerly awaiting that honor of posting W's win. It's such a joy and a relief that it's finally come to pass. God bless America!
Anyone still here?
I stand in awe of all that many of you have accomplished. The "down-in-the-trenches" work that you do just humbles me. I'm impressed by your devotion to the goal. Thank you.
And thank goodness we have 4 more years of the Daily Dubya Dose.
(and 4 more years of Barney)
TOmorrow is Laura Bush's 58th Birthday (and mine)
Send her greeting through the White House web sight or here:

Alia, thanks for stopping by and sharing your input on the blessing A Day in the Life ... has been.
Rin, more kudos for you ... today really brings it home.
It seems like a long time ago that President Bush was elected to his first term. The time has really flown though. We will have to appreciate each and every day of the upcoming four years because time just flies. I do hope that a lot gets accomplished these next four years.
I would say that conservative appointments to the Supreme Court would be the first priority because we know there are justices that, for health reasons or just because they want to retire, would like to step down. With the mandate that GWB was given yesterday and with a few more Republican senators being elected this time, I would hope that President Bush can have some success getting justices of his choice sworn in.
A few days ago, I worried about the possibility of there not being a "Day in the Life of President Bush" thread these next four years. Thank goodness, we won't be having to worry about that. :-D
It was very difficult to pick a "first photo" for today. There were some hummers.
Like someone else pointed out, imagine if W hadn't won, and kerry would have been photo'd in the Oval Office (in January). Nightmare Theater.
Dear ozbushkin, thanks for your well wishes and for rejoicing with us.
It means a lot to me to know we have such wonderful international support. A lot of people might secretly believe the US is on the right course and not want to speak out (this includes national leaders). A true friend is one who speaks up when it may not be seen as the popular thing to do.
The young man is a cousin of Jenna's.
I missed the other post by ohioW about Eric's sergeant status. Kudos and congratulations to the young man!
It's a tremendous relief, isn't it, lawgirl?
I have the most profound sense of well being for our country, even though I know there are HUGE challenges ahead for us and for Mr. President.
It's reassuring to know, God holds the future. We just have to be faithful with today.
We owe you big time Deb.
THANK YOU!
Here here! to all you wrote!!!
I have to say that I'm very grateful to Senator Kerry for not trying to contest Ohio. I know he never woulda won it anyway but I'm so relieved we don't have to go the same route as last time.
I thought the sun moved back ten steps on the stairway today when I heard Brian Williams tell Tom Brokaw on the evening news that polling data after the election showed:
okay, now prepare yourself:
A majority of voters believed George W. Bush made the connection successfully between the
okay, now, seriously, get ready:
war on terror, and the war in Iraq.
"When President Bush first came on the stage today, he seemed almost in shock because he was so subdued. Perhaps he was remembering he was robbed of a similar moment in 2000. "
He seemed almost overwhelmed with emotion, didn't he, and I'm sure by the gravity of the moment.
BTW, how was the Amish vote? Were there many who voted? Thanks.
Here's a puke alert.
Margaret Warner on the PBS News Hour with Jim Layererer quoted a kerry campaign person that there is this group of five to seven million people "out there" that they (kerry's people) "don't understand" and have no idea how to reach (duh). This was in reference to Christians -- and I got the impression from what I heard in the other room that they meant "those wacked-out evangelicals."
It was a stunner. Not that the problem exists, but that they admitted it, and spoke as if evangelicals were from another planet, spoke a different language, and maybe weren't even really a known human life form.
Then there was Chris Matthews talking last night about the 40 percent of Americans who literally believe God created the world, who are, and this was his terminology, "simple, not analytical" people who believe, rather than analyze, things. He also spoke of evangelicals as some other type of life form, and low life form at that. It was extremely insulting. I guess he didn't stop to think that a good number of those crazy believers were listening to him insult them.
