My math tells me that with Nevada, NM and Iowa going to Bush it will give him 286.

That is what Andy Card said early this morning - that Dubya would end up with a minimum of 286 EV's.

Is that the FINAL total, then, for sure ??? Dubya did get New Mexico and Iowa ??

Thanks.

There reason Card said "a minimum" is it could've been 286 or 287 if Bush gets Iowa too is that Maine is *not* "winner take all" so Bush could still get one electoral vote from Maine.

Maine gives 2 electoral votes to the statewide winner. 1 electoral vote each goes to the winners of each of its two congressional districts. They've had that system since 1969 and *never* split up their 4 electoral votes but some thought there could be a 3-1 split this year based on polling.

And, now, Bangor Daily News says it's been determined all four will goto Kerry. The article I link to says Kerry won Maine's two congressional districts, thus all the electors, on the economy and Iraq and Kerry had a better GOTV effort in Maine.
