What a novel concept! Kerry's people hit the nail on the head. Every American SHOULD think of April 15th every time they spend a dollar. Then, just maybe some heat would come onto the administration and Congress to rein in federal spending.

Rush Limbaugh's most recent Limbaugh Letter had an excellent outline of possible ways to get rid of the IRS. As a fiscal libertarian, I'm all for it.

Why is there a John Kerry campaign still? Show's over folks- nothing more to see here.

The tax policy of the new administration should be tax on consumption - period. That would be the fairest way.

It must be "a national sales tax to replace the income tax!"

And without the IRS who will enforce collection of the NST? You are replacing one devil with another.

The sales tax was a big issue in the Sessions-Frost race here in Dallas.....Frost ads condemned a National Sales tax as a huge tax increase....never mentioning that it would replace the income tax....it was truly disgraceful...ol Martin never could tell the truth about anything......btw...Martin Frost lost by a bunch.

Under the existing income tax, this country has become the wealthiest ever seen on planet earth. I'm all for reducing the scope of government and taxes. But hurrying in to change a successful system because we've got a theory on how to make it better seems like a bad idea on it's face.
The left had great sounding theories on socialisim that never worked. They sounded good, but they didn't work. I suspect this could fail just as miserably (perhaps by giving government the opportunity to add a sales tax, but then renege on getting rid of income taxes).
What we have works. If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
READ MY LIPS, NO NEW TAXES! (even if they promise, cross their hearts, to get rid of the old one)

Yes, yes! Tax on consumption is by far the best way.

Yay, 4 more years is just enough time to get this through if we start right now.
A pox on the IRS - it's outdated like social security and doesn't fit in with our shiny new future.

The Senate just messed themselves in their haste to offer a hundred and sixteen-dozen different targeted tax breaks for business. Is there anyone out there who honestly believes that they will adopt a simple tax system and lose out on the chance to repeat give-aways like that every election year?

The 16th Amendment would have to be repealed before the Fair Tax is implemented; otherwise, we will have both taxes imposed on us either sooner or later. While I support the Fair Tax, I feel Congress would never relinquish its ultimate power to manipulate the tax code for whatever purpose. If the Fair tax is too difficult to implement by repealing the 16th Amendment, we should pass a flat income tax. It is VITAL that the IRS be eliminated with either plan!

Before anyone goes all screwy against the "Fair tax" check out the web site and get informed about it.
http://www.fairtax.org
It`s got it`s shortcomings, but it is still a work in progress. For example
"Everyone pays their fair share of taxes, and with the FairTax rebate, spending up to the poverty level is tax free. The Federal government is fully funded, including Social Security and Medicare, and you don't need an expert to determine your Federal taxes."
