Poor Fox News...
Fox News | 11/3/04

Posted on 11/03/2004 3:31:33 AM PST by paudio

I feel bad for folks in Fox News Channel. They know for real that Bush won IA and NM. Yet, they cannot do that without also declaring Bush the winner and have their banner moving across the screen "BUSH RE-ELECTED". At the same time, they don't want to look partisan by being the only network that declares Bush Re-election.

The days of a non-partisan media are long gone.

It just is taking this election to finally break the illusion.

Don't feel sorry for them they have a job to do and even if it makes them look bad they need read their slogan, "Fair and Balanced." I don't think they are being fair to Presdident Bush and they are leaning toward Kerry in this instance.

My Letter to foxnews:

Dear Sir or Madame:

Count me as one more thoroughly disgusted and former viewer. Your obviously transparent and gutless attempt to deny President Bush his deserved election night victory by failing to properly call Nevada in a timely manner is truely contemptable. While others in your consortium (AP, CBS, etc) long ago called Nevada for the President, you continue to confuse the electorate by artificially stalling the President's electoral count at 269, denying the President his fair and much deserved victory.

There is no doubt of the this race's ultimate outcome. I would not be so sanguine about your continued high ratings. You let America down, Fox News.

Sincerely,

Im disappointed in fox that most polls before the election showed bush had a slight lead. But they chose to take the exit polls as absolute truth, throwing common sense out the window. It was as if they were mad the exit polls were wrong. I say good riddance, they are only used for propaganda by the liberal media! What a great turnaround. I'll never forget it!

FRrom http://jaycost.blogspot.com/

This is disgusting...
...what the MSM is doing.

Here is what is up. You have CNN, CBS, ABC and the AP calling Nevada for Bush, but not calling Ohio for Bush.

Meanwhile, you have NBC and Fox calling Ohio for Bush, but not calling Nevada for Bush.

All of this amounts to a cheap ploy by all parties to keep the race from being called. Why? Because Kedwards refuses to concede...this is unprecedented. The networks are bowing to a campaign.

You know why this is a cheap ploy? Because they are not doing the same thing in Pennsylvania. PA cast more votes than OH, and Kerry's margin of victory is less than Bush's margin in OH. But they sure as hell are keeping PA on Kerry's board.

Shame on them. Shame on all of them. What lousy coverage tonight (Fox's was atrocious!). What lousy exit polls, what stupid, slavish reliance on these exit polls in the early part of the evening. What generally inane babbling from start to finish. Nobody in the MSM had a single decent thing to say all year. They spent their time pondering the effects of "new voters," of the Redskins loss yesterday, of Kerry's picture at NASA. They paraded campaign flack after campaign flack, peddling nothing but the same empty talking points, every hour on the hour -- and chalked it up to "analysis" or "debate." They had nothing intelligent or insightful to say about anything for 13 months. They slavishly paid attention to polls with bad methodology, and poll "averages" that were not even close to it. What a puffed up, egotistical bunch of dunderheads. They had their heads up their you-know-what since the Dean "phenomenon," and though this denouement disgusts me, it does not surprise me.

What a cheap, cheap ploy at the end of the race. It caps off what I believe to be just a generally pathetic coverage of this horserace. I cannot express how despicable I find this whole thing.

The bottom line on Nevada: all the precints are in. It is not an issue of projection. Fox and NBC just will not call it because it would mean they would call the whole race for Bush. Meanwhile, the guy won the popular vote by 3.56 million votes. My guess is that Fox's motivation is different from the rest of the MSM. They just don't want to be first to call it for Bush.

This is just disgusting.

By the by -- my hat is off to Pew. They called this election perfectly. Only ones to do it.

I don't understand why Fox thinks it might appear "partisan." If it were merely projecting a win based on statistics, that would be different. But to state the FACTS is merely good honest journalism.

Maybe Fox fears an accusation of committing good honest journalism!

Bush has won.

It doesn't matter what the MSM says (or doesn't say) about it.

Why get upset???

I'm happy, Bush won, Dashole is gone, we gained seats in both houses and life is good. Be happy, this is about as good as it gets in politics!

What difference does it make?

Do we really have to hear from "the media" so we "know" the result?

The numbers are in, Bush won, be happy!
