by Gordon Thomas

MI6 has made an unprecedented intervention in the US election campaign by providing the Pentagon with the detailed evidence that Saddam Hussein DID have materials for the manufacture of weapons of mass destruction.
They were transferred to Syria by Russian Special Forces shortly before the war started in March 2003.

Cheney addresses Lee Enterprises officials, newspaper editors
We’re now at the point where it’s difficult to import the proper blends from overseas if you’re going to rely for example on European refineries to satisfy domestic requirements. They don’t produce the blends in the way we need them here at home to meet our quality requirements. Add to that the complexities that we’ve encountered when a hurricane hit the Gulf Coast. We shut down production in the Gulf of Mexico, and all of a sudden the only oil that is available is increased Saudi production which tends to be sour crude. Sour crude is tougher to refine, some refineries aren’t equipped to use that or process that. So again we continually add to the complexity of our whole process and mechanism regulatory structure was increasingly difficult and for us to meet these short-term demands for the problems that occur when there’s a shutdown in the Nigerian field, whether it’s a strike or a hurricane in the Gulf of Mexico. All of this adds to and puts pressure on prices here at home. And there’s other things we can do. The administration supported opening up ANWR (Arctic National Wildlife Refuge)..

Fire shuts down Petrojam
JAMAICA yesterday scurried to Trinidad and Tobago and Venezuela for finished petroleum products after an explosion and fire at the government's Petrojam oil refinery put the plant out of commission and raised the prospects of scarcity in the local market.

Officials could not immediately give the cause of the explosion and what was described as a "small fire" in one of the refinery's processing towers, but said that the incident happened at about 12:10 yesterday morning.
