The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

The Suffolk County Police Department Criminal Intelligence Section is investigating a hoax e-mail that has been circulating the Internet. The message, which was purportedly written by a volunteer with the Bayshore Fire Department, discusses a “briefing” at this firehouse, where members were advised of a pending terrorist attack that is to take place at area malls on “Black Friday” (November 26th, 2004).

The originator of this e-mail has been identified, and the source of the misinformation has been found. Retraction e-mails have been sent, but unfortunately have not proliferated as quickly as the original message.

Any agency receiving inquiries on this topic should feel free to correct any misinformation. If you need further information, please contact Suffolk County Police Criminal Intelligence Section at 631-852-6110.

Hello all,

Some information has come to me. It has not been released to the general public, but it's something we all need to be aware of. A couple of weeks ago someone was seen taking photos of my ambulance company in Bay Shore. This same person was seen outside Exchange Ambulance in Islip doing the same. The police were notified and the person was apprehended outside Southside hospital, again taking photos. He is a man of Middle Eastern descent and is being held for investigation. It seems that he was gathering information about our response capabilities in a mass casualty attack. The NY Field Office of the FBI held a meeting....SNIP

Long Awaited Bin Laden Statement, Finally Released?

We do believe this could be the statement that Al-Jazeera was told to NOT air, and agreed to the embargo. We knew that the tape made references to Pakistan in addition to the United States. It is quite possible that since the video was embargoed, they have released a statement instead.

CAIRO, Egypt (AP) - A web statement purportedly from al-Qaida chief Osama bin Laden called on Pakistani Muslims to fight, saying their country and neighbouring Afghanistan faced an American invasion.

The authenticity of the statement, which appeared Tuesday on a website linked to Muslim radicals, could not be verified. "We urge our Muslim brothers in Pakistan to use all their capabilities and whatever they possess to prevent the American crusader's troops from invading Pakistan and Afghanistan," said the statement, signed: "your brother in Islam, Osama bin Laden."

The statement also referred to deaths during an anti-U.S. protest in the Pakistani city of Karachi. While violent protests have occurred elsewhere in Pakistan, there have been no reports of a demonstration in Karachi that resulted in fatal clashes.

The statement included a pledge to Pakistani Muslims that "we are steadfast on the path of holy war . . . with the true believers of the heroic Afghan people, under the leadership of Mullah Mohammed Omar."

I think private estates such as the Russian baroness or princess on LI could be suspect as hiding places. I agree with Velveeta that Russian Orthodox Churches may also come under this watch umbrella.

If I remember correctly, our Russian royalty here on LI was living here on that estate THROUGHOUT the Cold War (maybe before?). I need to do some additional detail work on this to see what if anything has changed since the 'mid '80s when I was active in local GOP politics/government.

IOW, perhaps our Russian royalty has passed, but you can bet the estate is still in the hands of Russians if so.

Interviews with the patient suggest mechanical transmission likely occurred through indirect contact with infected wild rabbits on Staten Island. The patient's 2 dogs visit a local park daily. One dog captured a wild rabbit and subsequently licked the patient on the face upon returning home. The events occurred approximately 7 to 10 days prior to the onset of illness, which is consistent with the incubation period for tularemia. The patient never visited the park or had direct contact with rabbits or rodents, and denied having any tick or insect bites. The patient suffered from severe acne and complained of having a swollen submandibular lymph node a few days prior to her onset of illness. The patient's 2 dogs had positive antibody titers for tularemia, and several rabbits collected from the park were positive by direct fluorescent antibody testing (DFA). All animal testing was graciously done by our colleagues at the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) in Ft.
