The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

Insurgents warn Iraqis to stay home Wednesday or their lives will be in danger

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) — A posting on an Islamist Web site warned Iraqis to stay at home Wednesday in Baghdad and other cities or they would be “putting their lives in danger.”

The statement, in the name of eight known militant groups, said the unified “Islamic resistance” would step up operations against the “American enemy” in retaliation for the U.S.-led attack on the insurgent stronghold of Fallujah.

The statement urged Iraqis to stay at home Wednesday “to avoid putting their lives in danger.”

In Tikrit, Saddam Hussein’s hometown, insurgents distributed leaflets warning shopkeepers to close their stores indefinitely starting Wednesday to protest the attack on Fallujah.

Some families said they would keep their children away from school Wednesday because of the insurgent threat.

My wife and I were talking about the Van Gogh killing, and she reminded me that last week, a couple of days before the murder, she had been called by her credit card company, for a card she had never used. They were asking if she had authorized the purchase of an airline ticket in the Netherlands on a German airline. She told them she had not, and they have sent her paperwork to claim that her card was used fraudulently.

I wonder if this, or other incidents of Credit Card fraud. might be connected to the calls for jihad in the Netherlands.

Lockdown, or at least quarantine of the immediate area has pretty much become SOP in emergency departments across the country given the presence of an unkown exposure. State and Federal alphabet agencies preach this constantly in today's threat enviroment. Lucky though, this hospital appears to be a teaching facility with the ability to quickly assay the offending agent. Most hospitals in the country do not have the technical or human resources
to do this and would still be under lock down pending results from a comphrehensive lab.

Yesterday (was it only yesterday?) I read back the thread a bit an article by a guy who had been with the CIA (unless my memory is bad and it was the FBI) who is a psychiatrist, doing indepth studies of terrorists and what they have in common, trying to find out why they became terrorists, etc.

I'm sure you remember that article? One of his conclusions is that there are NO sleeper cells. What do you think?
