The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

A new message was posted in the last few hours by the Jeddah-based al-Qaeda-linked Al-Islah (Reform) society calling on Muslims to flee New York, Washington and Los Angeles in advance of major al Qaeda attacks in those cities. This is revealed by DEBKAfile.

How could you forget? I was from the "OBL has been dead since Tora Bora" school, and last January, I got into some pretty nasty flame wars with the "OBL has been tagged and bagged" people, who claimed that spec ops had captured OBL in Pakistan, "no doubt about it." From what I have read, our spooks have confirmed the authenticity of the last OBL tape, which has references to events that happened in the last few months, which means OBL is most likely very alive, if in fact, that is his voice on the tape (as opposed to a digital recreation or the voice of a really good impressionist).

I had this thought today. We were discussing the whole "individual states" thing on the last thread. Seems there have to be some things going on.

1. Hitting all the 'red' states at once would be wiser, rather than giving the others time to figure out what's going on and hyper-secure things.

2. There has to be a very large media presence at or very near the point of attack ('view it on CNN)

3. Of course, a large group of people.

This came to me......what meets all of these pre-requisites?

What about state-sponsored inaugural balls?

1. You can hit "individual states" -- at least metaphorically.

2. Huge media presence.

3. Large group of people.

What do ya'll think???

Al Jazeera headquarters is in Qatar whose government has directed Al Jazeera on many occasions to turn over the tapes to the U.S. prior to airing them and to spike them at times, too.
