According to the Ohio secretary of state, 90% were valid in the last election. They had 100,000 of them in 2000 or 2002.(he did not say which election)

Only the dems think that way. It's probably pretty damn close to 50/50.

They called it at 1:00 on Fox, but then they heard grumblings that Kerry was going to demand that every vote count and every vote be counted (Baaarrrffff)

Anybody know anything about the makeup of Ashland, Coshocton, Hamilton, Knox or Lucas counties? They are the only ones not fullly counted yet. (By the way, in the precincts reported in those counties, Bush has 64%, 56%, 53%, 65% and 39%, respectively.)

The differential is PA is equal, but opposite to OH. Why is one called and closed and the other still in play?

Blush and eyeliner, I think.

(Sorry, it's late and I'm slap-happy after tonight's roller-coaster election.)

That's easy.
Something's "amiss" because kerry didn't get it.
They'll keep counting until it comes out "right".

No ID required for provisional ballots.

In fact if someone shows up to vote and the poll book shows "ID required" but they can't provide ID they get a provisional ballot. Those votes will count.

If someone shows up to vote but are not on the voter rolls and insist they live in the precinct and are in the correct polling place they are given a provisional ballot. These have to be checked. In order for these ballots to count the county election office would have had to make a mistake and the voter should have been on the rolls.

Most likely most of the provisional ballots are people who want to vote but didn't register (vote doesn't count) or went to the wrong place (as of last court decision vote doesn't count).

I've only heard them brought up about Ohio (obviously) and Nevada.

http://election.sos.state.oh.us/ProvBallots.htm

The above link to the Ohio Sec. of State contains the number of Provisional ballots either handed out or caste in this elction, but does not include the percincts with extended voting hours (I believe). The number there is ~76000 provisional ballots.

Add in uncounted absentee ballots, subtract provisional ballots that will get tossed out, and there is your number of votes to be counted.

Kerry is toast.

Also, why isn't NM being called?

No kidding! They've already got 103% of the precincts reporting. "Five out of four" Democrats voted for Kerry and they still can't pull it out. Call the damned thing already.

They now have 101% of the votes counted! LOL!

I dunno! I am going to bed soon. We have won this, but I am not at all convinced that Kerry will concede tomorrow.

If he does not, I estimate 2-4 weeks delay while they research these provisional ballots, one at a time with 50 lawyers.

Provisional votes are usually thrown out because they are invalid to begin with.

The Dem spinners are saying "...over 90% of provisional ballots are valid..."

Everyone has called it for Bush except CNN. They just can't stand to admit they lost another one. I've never seen such a sad look on Judy Woodruff's surgically altered face.
