If you want a nice place to stay...do not count on DC. I have a room in McLean at the Ritz Carlton. They have plenty of rooms but here is the deal... The price is $330 something before tax. If you have an Amex platinum and book thru Amex then you get the room with tax for $359. + you get $100 in food credit. Only good for room service lobby bar and steak house. Note this only for people with "The Card". Anyone wanting to make reservations without the Amex should contact me, and I will consider getting you a room, after your check clears my account LOL Seriously, this hotel is about 10 miles from the Ball and we will have a car. Parking there is $22.00 a day/valet or $5.00 a day self-park.
Are the hotels all requiring a three-night minimum, as is the rumor? If so, don't know if I can get that many days away from work. We went to the inauguration last time, but the walking (must have done 15 miles that day) just put me out of commission.
Is the $100 credit per day? Thinking of staying close the 19th and 20th, then finding somewhere a little further out for less $$.
