Yup, Senator Edwards speaks. SoreLoserman II begins tonight, but I'm not waiting!
Congratulations President Bush!!
It's all over but the crying for the SoreLosermen!!
And now it's time for us to start planning the Free Republic George W. Bush Inaugural Ball II!
I've had Kristinn checking venues and prices and we're in the process of getting a proposal from the Wyndham City Center Hotel in Washington, DC (the other Wyndham that we used last time is already booked).
The costs have more than doubled from our first ball, so we're estimating the price per person will have to be in the neighborhood of $175 per person. We'll also have to move fast on this. We'll need to make a quick decision as soon after the elections results are official as we possibly can and then we'll need to quickly raise the funds to put up the required deposit.
So, here's the question: Are you ready for an Inaugural Ball?
If so, please post here if you plan to attend and how many will be in your party.
Thank you all very much and hope to see you in DC on January 20th!!
By the way, everyone told us last time that the Free Republic Ball was the best one in town and it was half the price or less than all the others. I suspect that this Ball will also be the best in town and at $175 will still be priced less than any other!
I asked for two tickets.I hope that you acknowledge my earlier request. Please send me details about payment method of $350. I missed using my ticket for the last ball because I caught cold at the Inaugeration.
Ok, we expect to begin selling tickets next week as soon as we finalize our contract with the hotel. I'll ping everyone on this thread, but watch for our announcements.
See you there.
Thanks,
Jim
I'm definitely interested, so please ping me. Thanks.
There is a Quality Inn and Suites in College Park, Md. that still has rooms available if anyone is still looking. Price ranges from $99.00 to $209.00. The ad says it is .3 of a mile from the Metro Station at College Park, on the Green Line. We are staying here. If anyone else does, Freepmail me and maybe we can get together.
Oops, forgot the link:

Party of four, ready, willing, and absolutely delighted at the prospect. I myself would have the honor of escorting an elegant ballroom dancer.
I will be unable to attend after all. (darn it!) Too expensive for my budget. Scratch arasina+1 from your list.
I hope someone will start a LIVE thread from the FReepers Ball! :o)
I'll be there and bringing a friend with me for a total of two tickets!
Carrie
The greatest and bestest thing about a Freeper ball is that no one is a stranger. Everyone is a Freeper and therefore, there is an immediate bonding by simply saying one's name.
Don't be afraid. There are no cliques, no insies-outsies, no better-than-thou's. It's the FRiendliest place in town!
See ya there!
Truthy
I am in for 2 tickets please. I look forward to seeing my fellow freepers on the 20th!
Will you be having a dinner the night before the ball like you did in 2001?
We will be in DC for the Inaugural and want to see you all again. We are not sure if we can make your ball because of political commitiments we have to keep.
But -- we really enjoyed the "Count the Silverware" Party last time around. We brought friends who were unfamiliar with The Freepers -- and they have already asked about a dinner the night before.
Keep us advised.
Freepers are the GREATEST!!
regards,
I won't be able to attend either, for obvious reasons, but I'll don my dancing shoes in the thread! :)
I got a JetBlue flight from Long Beach for $236.
Aren't the reports great? I had fun reading them again. Too bad so many pics are missing but at least we can still access the threads!
Pinging Jim Robinson so that "gbmc" winds up on the official ping list!

He's in for at least one (1) ticket to the Ball.
Jim, when you are ready to start selling tickets, will you have capability to do "e-check" or whatever it's called, for those of us who do not use credit cards?
Count me in for two people. I hope I'm not too late in getting my name on this list. My wife and I had a blast at the first ball and look forward to doing the same at this ball.
