If the projections are based on today's voting without the early/absentee voting totals, they will be wrong/skewed.

South Carolina is another bad omen.

Buchanan said that if Kerry runs in the mid-forties in a strong GOP state like SC, that's trouble.

I am guessing that what they have done is set a certain standard about number of votes, number of preciencts reporting. Depends on how slow the state is to report.
