I'm really getting pissed off at the networks for calling blue states with 0% of the votes counted and not calling the red ones till much, much later. I agree - can someone intelligently exp[lain to us what may be going on here...I don't want to think these people are this obvious...

Perhaps it's because Kerry is getting his butt whooped and they are trying to help him save face!

There are some political newbies on the site who are gumming up the works. The way the networks call the states is based on exit polling and actual returns from key districts. Unless it is very close, they can usually make the call based on exit polls. That's why New Jersey and others can be called quickly (0%, exit polls only) and some have to wait until the data is confirmed.
So don't get excited about a 10% lead based on 20% reporting. It doesn't necessarily mean anything, as it matters where those votes came from. Patience . . . and, of course, COURAGE.

The networks want you to watch as many commercials as they can show you. They need to keep the EV count close. You saw how they put NY and TX up at the same time? They'll need to do the same for CA. You need to understand what the bottom line is for the MSM (inclduing Fox) -- watch the commercials our sponsors paid us for. The longer they can "keep it close" by not calling obvious W states, the more ratings they will get. See if they are not going to commercial at about the same time. Relax. Bush = LANDSLIDE.
