My recollection is that Drudge was reporting an unexpectedly tight race from the exit polling. I remember my stomach tightening.

Dittos re: shot nerves. 4 years ago I had champagne chilling in the fridge. Figured that jinxed it....as I didn't get to pop the cork for weeks afterwards. This year...we didn't chill the champagne. Didn't even buy any. If we had....I think I would have consumed it already!!!!

I don't remember now. I'm sure someone here knows though.

Isn't the AP doing the exit interviews for the lst time ever?
To: RogerWilko
I think the exit polls will be totally FUBAR. Each early voting state has different people who went out early and skewed who is going to show up today.
Unless they really have a good grasp on who voted early in what percentages, any numbers they get are going to be worthless.
Second point, and I hate to say this, but we better pray for a blowout in places like Ohio. They estimate that there may be 250,000 provisional ballots cast. At the same time, these ballots are not required to be counted until Dec 1. If Bush is winning by 240,000 votes in Ohio, the dems can say all these provisionals are ours, and have it waited out for weeks, while they do the lawsuits.
We need a 2-3% win tonight or it won't be over tonight. We may just get it though.

I can only imagine what ye are all going through today - coz, I'm like a cat on a hot tin roof.
My editor laughed at me today when I left the newsroom early, and said to him..'Don't expect me to be functioning well tomorrow - I'll be up all night watching the election'. Happily, tomorrow isn't a deadline day!

DU is not letting them post exit poll results because it will show Bush way up and continue to be way up.
This will be a Bush landslide and will be decided early. After PA, OH, and FL go Bush, the steamrole will continue.

Yes Drudge was reporting a very close tight race in 2000 and I think Rush was aware of it through Drudge and was telling people he thought there was some trouble.

Did see a couple poll watchers, though. And the turnout was heavy.Same here. Took me 1.25 hours to vote this morning. I can usually get in and out in 15 minutes.
