Turn out seems to be incredibly heavy even here where there are no real disputed races. Bush will win here, Isaakson will win, etc.
It is very heavy here in Alabama too - here in Huntsville the radio said 1000 people showed up at the courthouse early this morning to vote.
Will be voting after I get off work. Radio keeps telling about heavy turnout around Atlanta and the 'burbs.
Voted in Cherokee county at 8:30 am after the morning rush should have been over..fairly rural here (not many subdivisions no mulit-family housing) so lines are always light..not so this morning.
I waited 45 minutes, gladly I might add, in an area that is easily 90% super conservative Republican..no one is taking this for granted on the right at least up by me...
Is it pathetic to admit what a thrill it is to vote and how full on giddy I felt pulling the lever (punching the screen) for W.?????

Voted about two hours ago - in heavily Republican Fayette County - southside suburban Atlanta - I have never seen such long lines, but they moved pretty quickly. I'm used to being number 50 or so to vote, and today I was 848. So this is a good sign, IMHO. I couldn't bring myself to vote for Isakson, though.
Pray hard.
Going to vote after lunch. My county, Forsyth, votes Republican by over 80%.
Report from Tunnel Hill, GA - Northwest part of state. 20 minutes in line with light drizzle, only took a couple of minutes to check in and vote. I was 69th voter on my machine and poll official said they were reaching 800 as I was leaving. I believe this to be a very strong turnout in a high Republican area.
That's two for W so far from this household. Young Techster voted absentee a couple of weeks ago as he is in college, guess where? Mrs. Techster will make it three this afternoon after work.

Voted in Forsyth County GA (North Forsyth, New Hope Methodist Church Polling Place). Was distressed to see NO line.
Talked to the poll worker and she said turnout was great. They were lined up beginning at 5:00am this morning. Over 1/2 of precinct voted already. Not counting early and absentee voting.
We are a very, very GOP County. State not in play, but doing our part to give Bush his mandate!
I was in at 10:30 and voted at Noon in Gwinnett County. The line was just as long when I left as when I got there. Someone in the line said her husband had gotten there at 6:30 and finally voted at 9. This is the heaviest turnout I've seen at our polling place and I've been here since '88. This is a traditionally strong Republican district but is in transition. Will be interesting to see the percentages. John Linder is my congresscritter and he ran unopposed.
I'm at school. Student mock election today. Bush won in a landslide.
Atlanta (Morningside/Lindbergh) Report
Huge turnout this morning at Piedmont and Cheshire Bridge (30324). When I arrived at the polls at 0700 there were hundreds of people already in line. I waited in line for an hour and 15 minutes.
The electronic process was simple enough and there were about 12 booths at the precinct. The poll workers were swamped with people and you had to show ID. That was nice to see.
My poll workers said they were missing 4 people that were supposed to work, but failed to show up. Last minute volunteers are not allowed to work inside the polling place, but could stand outside and direct folks to where they're supposed to go and help with traffic.
The little old lady that was working at the poll said she had never seen a turnout like today in her 40 years as a poll officer. The gay turnout was huge (marriage amendment). It sure did feel good to vote for W.
We arrived at our polling place in Paulding Co. at 6:30am and there was already 100+ in front of us and by 7:00am there was probably 300+ behind us. My poor wife does not suffer fools gladly. After waiting an hour we get right up to the point where you enter the polling place and this woman lets her friend cut in front of us. It was every thing I could do to restrain her from smacking this woman around.
Lots of Bush people on the corners.
I'm in Dekalb, close to 85 and Clairmont.
My guess for Forsyth County is Bush 90% and Kerry 10%. He he.
It looks like a large Republican turnout here in Georgia.

Couldn't find an Alabama thread but my brother said turnout there was INCREDIBLE. A firehouse on Hwy 280 had lines 4 blocks long. Alabama may go to Bush by 25%.
I'm in Gwinnett too. Very heavy turnout in my area. A gentleman in line said he had been voting at that precinct for 25 years and has never seen it that heavy. I believe him!
