I realized this when I found the Oregon thread. Thank you for your efforts. Great idea!

>Rossi for Gov. and McKenna for Att Gen.<

But how to vote the judges?

I've been advised that for the supreme court, Jim Johnson and Richard Sanders are proven conservatives.

I follow the workings of the state supreme court very closely. Jim Johnson and Richard Sanders are clearly the best choices.

I'm definitely voting for Sanders.

As for Johnson, I'm not sure he's all that conservative. However, he's running against a flaming liberal who lives in Bellingham, so that's all I need to know to cast my vote for Johnson.

I know Sanders well; have known him well since college (U of W; he wrote "the Devil's Advocate" column as editor of the U of W Daily). Sanders is not only a firm conservative, he is in my view the outstanding justice on the Court.

In thinking about an appropriate endorsement for Richard, it is difficult to find strong enough words. You simply could not find a better justice. He is smart; has courage to call the difficult shots when he sees them; applies existing law clearly and carefully.

I think Johnson is OK also although I do not know him personally.

Seattle. Queen Anne Hill is HEAVILY sKerry country. I voted absentee last week, but drove by my polling place this AM. Small precinct and I've never had lines either early AM or after work. This AM (6:50) there were 30-40 people lined up. I waited across the street watching until I drew some attention and just explained I was curious about turn out. Doors opened about 7:00 and more people begin lining up. No parking anywhere near poling place so neighbors hoof it to vote. My guess is sKerry carries our precinct 80%-20%. If Kedwards doesn't carry Washington state by 15 points, I'd call it a RAT failure. Hope is for Rossi running for Gov.

Just received this e-mail from a friend who knows: "We have lots of problems at the polls already today. Big lines, machines not working, people not showing upl One was an inspector and had the ballots at her house for her board. She was sick! Guess trouble shooter had to go get them. The people had to wait. We may be the next Florida!
LOL. I have been on the phone and the computer since 5AM.

Any other WA counties want to report in?

My wife and I voted at 8 am this morning at the precinct we've always gone to for a couple of years. Nothing out of the ordinary, just more people than usual. Definitely going to be a high turnout, perhaps one of the highest ever. Hoping the surge is because the conservatives folks are tired of all this crap and are turning out big time to make sure things stay status quo in this pretty conservative area (Tri-Cities).

Voted in Shoreline in King County. No line at the door. No annoying people from either party doing anything. Waited a few minutes for a booth to open up. Same old folks running the place as before.

Crowd was about the same as 2000, but much less than 1992.

Heavy rain overnight. Medium but steady rain right now.

Uneventful.

I have the smoked salmon, French bread and champaigne ready for tonight.

Voted at 7:15 this morning.

LONG lines despite the rain.

Moderately conservative South Hill Puyallup. Lot's of determined....almost angry looks. SUVs, pickups. W stickers everywhere.

While a W victory in WA is unlikely, we can hope for some good news down ballot.

I voted just after 12:00 in Mukilteo. It looks like there has been a decent, steady crowd most of the morning, but no real lines. I was able to jump right it.

I voted in Shoreline, too. No strange people, waited a bit for a booth. It was much more crowded than usual. I can't remember seeing such a crowd since 1980.

I LOVE THIS RAIN! Maybe it will keep the liberal faithful home.

Yah, but... it's stopped here in Redmond. *\:-(

Samammish Plateau (King Co) -- barely got the polls inspector there in time to start setting up after she had a bit of trouble with her car. Said there were 50 people in the lobby when they opened up at 7, and in a few minutes there were 25 more. Been much busier than usual ever since.

(I remember stopping by after work one election; they hadn't broken 100 voters yet. Different location & precincts, though.)
