Good story, let's hope 50+% of your fellow Floridians do the same.

I'm interested in your perception of Hospice. Is it Terri Schiavo-related?

As for Jack*ss, he's all over the map. He has a gold plated voice and wooden ideas. He's said he's conservative, and may be, but he's voiced some of the most ridiculous things I've heard -- perhaps that comes with being a jock. He's one of those "oh woe is America" types and I don't we all need to move on for that and work to make this a better place. And while I'm on the jock thing, their morning show is at turns pitiful, sophomoric, offensive and idiotic.

MERRITT ISLAND FLORIDA Prec. 16

Moveon was outside handing out pamphlets. Heavy Republican area, few Kerry supporters wearing stickers on their shirts. Very long lines at 7am.

I haven't been out yet, but on the local news this a.m., they showed one precinct in which people had been lining up since before 6 a.m. to vote. By 7 a.m., there must have been 100+ people in line. I'm in Ft. Myers, which is heavily Republican. There have been long lines for early voting also. I've never had to wait to vote before, so this is really unusual. We usually have 40% turnout - a little higher on contentious races. They are predicting an 80%+ turnout, which is absolutely incredible!

My parents went out to vote early this a.m. and the line was so long they left. They plan to try again after lunch. They thought it was the "working people" trying to vote before work, and hoped the lines would be shorter later. But they WILL VOTE - and are solid Bush supporters. I plan on going out around 1 p.m. also. Will report back my experiences.

correction: I think we all need to move on from that and work to make this a better place: i.e. bring America to her full potential.

Iv oted around 10 this morning. The precinct was packed! There were 3 people ahead of me. It was quiet and smooth! We're going to wave signs this afternoon. I passed several polling places on the way to pick up signs and they all appeared to be busy.

Go BUSH 4 more years!!

"Ha...I guess your turnout isn't as good huh?"

See the people with the Kerry Edwards signs? They'll vote for Kerry, maybe even twice.

Everyone else votes for Bush.

My buddy just got back from voting on the east side of Gainesville. Corrine Brown country. Precinct 28.

He was furious. He said the dems were passing out sample ballots containing only the dem candidates names(making it easy). That way you could sit down and pick the right folks. He said there was a stretch limo parked in front of the polling place with JFK signs all over it.

He tried calling the supervisor of elections. No answer.

Paradox, there'll be a line at 6 pm -- people voting on the way home from work. Be prepared to wait -- but vote!

Hubby voted when the polls opened this morning. Our polling place is right next to the police station, so it's usually pretty orderly, but there was a guy this morning walking the waiting line with a "Lawyers of Kerry" sticker on, asking people if they need help voting. Uh huh. There was a long lime; about an hour's wait.

The Kerry lawyer wasn't there at 10 when I and my sister voted, but there were so many (paid) poll workers there wasn't much room for voters in the little room that houses the machines for our district. There were a few Kerry thugs keeping their legal distance from the poll, but they were easily avoided.

This is the third time I've voted on the new machines, but I got the impression that most of the voters had never seen them before.

Bal Harbour (pct 12 Miami-- Church by the Sea)
There was about a 45 minute to an hour's wait. Kerry supporters were outside holding signs (no Bush signs visible). The lady behind me in the line asks "They think that's going to change my mind?!?!") The lady in front of me was a former Dim who changed party affiliation because of Clinton.

Touch screens were nice. Just wish there was a paper trail.

When Bush and the Pubbies win this, they need to revamp election laws again to prevent fraud by requiring an ID at the polls and maybe the last four digits of your SS# on absentee ballots. This crap must not be allowed to be repeated.

Ya know, I was kinda hoping that most of the voting would be over with by tonite, what with all the early voting. I guess I'm gonna be wrong! I'll vote though..

Voted in rural Holmes county this morning. Took about 5 minutes.

Nothing going on but there was an unusually large number of people who I guess were poll watchers hanging around. Everything was setup really well, voting was smooth all the way.

Where I voted in Florida this A.M., they did require a photo id.

I live in a mixed Republican/Democrat neighborhood in Fort Lauderdale.

I got to the polls at 6:15am and was 16th in line. When I left at 7:15 after voting, I counted 104 people in line.

While waiting for the polls to open, I overheard the head poll worker explaining to the other how to know if someone had voted via absentee or early. "You'll see a stamp in the book," she explained to the others.

"When did you get your books?" I asked.

"Yesterday afternoon." she replied.

"So how will you know if someone voted yesterday?"

"We will get those books this afternoon."

"So what is to stop someone from voting yesterday afternoon and again this morning?"

She went blank. Her mouth hung open for a few seconds. She then stammered "We will check that book against this one."

"And if you find someone did vote twice?"

Blank look again. "We'll have to delete one of their votes."

"Which one? And how will you know how they voted?"

There is a HUGE security hole in the "early voting!"

I posted this on another thread but will add to this one:

Brandon FL precinct 821 reporting in. Heavy Republican area.

Arrived at polling place around 6:45. Probably about 200 people already in line. It took me around 45-60 minutes to vote. When I left, the line was still about the same length as when I started.

Lots of Bush/Cheney stickers on cars in the lot, lots of Bush and Martinez sign wavers on the roads heading into the office. No sign of Kerry supporters.
