SALT LAKE CITY (AP) -- President Bush and John Kerry are not only distant cousins -- they can be traced back to Count Dracula.
That's according to Provo's reputable genealogical research company MyFamily-dot-com.
The search firm says both presidential candidates are loosely related through as many as 34 generations to the man who became known as Count Dracula.
He was born in 1431 as Prince Vlad the third, and he ruled southern Romania for a time.
MyFamily-dot-com says it showed the bloodthirsty warlord's connection to modern times have a little fun before Halloween.
But the company insists it's NOT making this up -- Bush and Kerry and thousands of others descended from County Dracula's family.
If researchers could trace back relations to the dawn of human history, they could show that everybody's related to everybody.

Their descent from Vlad is indirect, through Vlad's family, not directly from him. That linkage is through their kinship to the British Royal Family so they are also all direct discendants of the god Odin.
And of course Kerry is a direct descendant of The Profit, Mohammed.

Fortunately one then had a bunch of children and most of the prominent families of Virginia are descended from Pocahontas. One was Robert E. Lee.
BTW, I am also supposed to be related to Pocahontas.

Well, my family are direct descendants of Aaron, the brother of Moses.
Most European royalty are related to the Prophet Mohammed though a Morroccan renegade prince who married a Hapsburg back in... whenever. The late Moroccan King used to tease the Euros by starting his letters, "Dear Cousins". It seems that every election, the monarchist types start finding all kinds of connections to all kinds of royals, and every European country finds some connection to themselves (there was a big thread on here about the Bush family's "French connection" a day or so back).
A Biblical literalist friend of mine used to claim that since we were all related to Adam and Eve anyway, racist and other anti-anybody thinking was violating the 4th commandment. I'm no Biblical literalist, but I second that thought.
I read an interesting article a while back which said a large number of American Presidents, something like half, were descended from a hardly known 17th (or was it 18th?) century preacher.
