A Biblical literalist friend of mine used to claim that since we were all related to Adam and Eve anyway, racist and other anti-anybody thinking was violating the 4th commandment. I'm no Biblical literalist, but I second that thought.

Maybe more related than that. Genetic findings indicate that everyone who lived before about 3500 BC was either an ancestor of everyone living, or else has no modern descendants.

That 3500 BC thing wasn't a genetic finding. It was some jokers playing around with some math and their own assumptions. Said that everyone living today is descended from (among others) a person (male? female? they didn't say) who lived in SE China 5500 years ago. Those conclusions are a load.
