AIRING TONIGHT ON 60 MINUTES: IN HARM'S WAY

Even though roadside explosive devices account for half of all the war's U.S. casualties, soldiers are still getting killed and wounded by them because the Pentagon hasn't provided enough fully-armored vehicles to protect them.

You mentioned Friday's Pentagon briefing, I heard it also. It took me back about 30yrs. The same micro-management of the war by politicians and the media that went on then is going on today.
If Pres. Bush wins on Tues. he will be constantly assailed by the DNC and the media for the next four years.
A victory for the Pres. on 11/2 will just mark the opening of a new front in our war against Islam. (Make no mistake, this is not just militant Islam we are faceing, it is the totality of Islam.) This front will be in our own country. It will be against those who hate representative democracy, those who hate capitolism and those whose thirst and lust for power are insatiable. If we are fortunate, this front will not be fought with guns and bullets but with truth. If not, then fasten ypur seatbelts, wer're in for a bumpy ride.

My guess is that half of that number is people left over from the football game and others anticipating Catherine Morris on Cold Case after. 60 Minutes is for the Geritol inclined dead heads who have the need for someone else to do their thinking.

Can you imagine if FDR had to fight WWII with a "politcally correct" press? What would have happened after we lost 6,000+ taking Iwo Jima? What about the 2,000+ who were killed "practicing" for the D-Day invasion. Bush is trying to fight the War on Terror so we don't all get killed, and the American press is trying to see that we don't win the war. God, help us.

the left, having rejected truth, become like the animals thay they believe are their ancestors.

Ticks, for example. They attach themselves to host and suck as much life as they can (which isn't really much); but will not ever let go until physically removed.

Child pornography web sites are beginning to loose revenue every time 60 DNC Minutes does a show critical of President Bush.

The once venerable, proud CBS News is now just a embarrasing, political hack for the Democratic Party who can no longer hide its true stripes.

I'm not so sure it's credible to quote leading news organizations about --oh,nevermind.-GWB)

I'd like to see a stronger condemnation. i.e. if they run the piece Bush should explain the situation, then respond that if Kerry had his way the troups would have had no money at all. And then attack CBS news DIRECTLY saying they have become a purely partisan news source that can no longer be trusted. I'd love to see what they'd do with that.

God, help us.

Amen.

Meanwhile, the enemy watches this... is encouraged how effective these roadisde bombing tactics are in influencing public opinion (like they didn't know already from CNN) and are encouraged to escalate.

The LAV is high performance combat vehicle. It is much too expensive to hand out to every unit to drive their commanders around in.

I personally would like to see the Americans produce something like the SISU...an armored vehicle made from off the shelf truck/bus engine, transmission and modified suspension. They can produce a not quite comparable, but close, vehicle for $100,000...less than a tenth the cost of a LAV. That we could afford hand out to most convoys. I wouldn't necessarily want troops riding to battle in one, but it would be good for peacekeeping, OOTW and rear area stuff.

I don't see this story on the CBS 60 Minutes web site as one they are airing tonight. The have an Arnold story, Ashlee Simpson, Jon Stewart and Emit Till. Is anyone 100% certain the story on the lack of armor is really running tonight?

Its not their age that is the problem....its their politics. Lets not stoop to name calling, there's nothing wrong with age as long as its accompanied by wisdom.
also whats so important about under 50? more years to buy useless products pitched by TV news anchor pitchmen?

In the history of modern warfare the Pentagon has NEVER provided "enough" armored vehicles to protect every man. The media seems to think every man should be issued his own personal Bradley or Abrams.

Every time I read something like this, I'm reminded of a scene in To Hell And Back. Murphy's squad has hitched a ride on a Sherman, and the tank commander is apologizing for only having about three inches of armor if the shooting starts. Ome of Murph's men looks at him and wryly asks something like "how thick do you think this G.I. shirt is?"

Unfortunately it is impossible to make all our soldiers bullet and bomb-proof.
