Just announced on Hawaii TV news.
You answer it yourself, but perhaps without realizing it: If we have our base down there's no reason NOT to go to Hawaii. You don't need to keep pounding away where you are winning, you are better off spending your efforts adding to states you've already got set. If Bush had won Hawaii, or if Hawaii was normally a Republican state, I'd say we were in deep dooo. But Hawaii is as leftist, usually, as my state. If it is truly in play then the odds are more toward a Bush landslide than a narrow Kerry victory.
Second, unless you have 600 Republican friends in Hawai'i, then your margin of error is too large.
Remember when Reagan almost ran the table -- and later said: If only we'd stopped in ??? Was it Wisconsin he wanted to stop, they didn't and it was the one they lost.
I think the V.P. will be fine.
Is it possible: Bush is actually up a lot more than letting on but letting MSM show it tight so we'll all stay fired up and determined to get out and vote?
The NYT STILL has something up their sleeve. Frank Rich was way too smug and kept hinting to that effect at the end of the Chris Matthews show. Watch the rerun later and see if you get the same vibe... it's at the end of the show so don't have to sit through the whole thing (I didn't was channel-surfing).
It was Minnesota. Apparently, in the final days of the campaign, Reagan was told it would be a rout and if he made one stop in Minnesota, it could have been 50 states. Reagan decided not to so that he would not purposely humiliate Mondale. He would have been happy to win Minnesota, but didn't want to add insult to injury.
Thanks for the "rest of the story."
Cheney was scheduled for Michigan which he can still do because of the time change...he is scheduled for Colorado on Monday, also doable...He probably will spend Monday nite in Wyoming and vote there on Tuesday...so this is just an added trip to the schedule not a substitute..
On Sunday Cheney had previously been scheduled for Las Vegas and Iowa.
You mean you don't want to see the Veep doing the hula in a grass skirt and coconut bra?
