"I'm trying not to panic....but don't know why they'd go to hawaii...if we had our base down, we don't need it."

People get locked into this "just nail down the base" idea. Look at the numbers--KERRY is the one trying to hold down his base. What would you have Bush do, jsut hang around states they have locked up, or try to build on secure states by taking more EVs, so we have more of a cushion to shove in the dems's faces when they try to litigate their way to a win?

Any campaign manager who says "Ah, we have enough EV's,don't bother" should be FIRED.

Guys, don't wait for Hawaii to decide it. Sweep Kerry so Hawaii can be the final kick in his pompous posterior.

If Bush does barely win this thing, he can lose almost virtually every battleground state and STILL win if he gets HI's or NH's 4 electoral votes.

And that's why Florida is SOOO damn important to Bush.

Florida is the pivot point makes this election a sure thing or a nightmare.

Sending Cheney to Hawaii practically guarantees that Bush will not win Hawaii

Cheney is way to divisive...

If Bush had visited, it would have been a slam dunk winner....

Thats my two cents

Agreed.

I think we will win most of the vital battleground states.....just saying we need to prepare in case it is close that we can win still. That is all Bush is doing by sending Cheney and Kerry sending Gore.

Frankly, at this point, I would say about 2-3 points out of the 5-6 points or so undecideds will not even vote.

I do think Bush will win pretty decently.....am worried about the affiliate Iraq video, but it has not gotten much play.

Yep, make sure the base is going to the polls and energize them with an historic trip to a solid Dem state. This is big news and the Gore and Kerry daughter trip just makes the Dems look desperate in comparison.

Bingo.

I did not realize how vital Florida was until playing around with that MSNBC calculator.

It is really quite vital....

Pray to God it goes our way.

Well, I mean the Iraq weapons footage, not the flipping off video.

The flipping off video won't hurt Bush. Heck, it may help him...lol

Remember people, Hawaii is the only other state to be openly attacked by an enemy, they know what it is like to be attacked without warning, or pity. The polls are showing it going to Bush because they believe in him that he did the right thing after 9/11. He go after the terrorists where they live and hide, and wipe them out, just like FDR did after the Japanese attacked Pearl.

They're "claiming" that they have them.

But isn't Rove interested in chipping away at the Democrat party and turning the GOP into a large majority party? A few votes here, a few votes there, votes in Hawaii, etc. This may have importance beyond this election.

I keep hearing the pollsters saying this will be close. If Bush picks up Ohio (likely), cherry picks Michigan and Minnesota, carries Florida (very probable, the panhandle voters want revenge for MSM trickery), this thing will be a done deal by the time I get home from work.

What is the affiliate Iraq video?

Sending Cheney to Hawai'i is not about electoral calculus. It is not even about Hawai'i. It's about the base on the mainland.

Regarding "bad info leaked". What I meant is we have been hearing so called Bush internals that have him doing well, even up 5 in OH. My point is I hope this leaks are right, but Bush/Rove have a pretty tight ship in the rumor dept. So who knows where the leaks are coming from.

Florida IS important and Bush will win it easily by 6+ points. Ohio is the trouble state this year.

Gore just doesn't strike me as the "Hawaiian-type." If he puts on a bathing suit it's all over!
