I remember the horror I felt when I studied ancient history in school and learned that the Greeks and Romans sometimes exposed unwanted babies, and that Baal-worshippers cruelly sacrificed their children to Baal.
The Greeks, at least, refrained from actually murdering their babies. If the gods willed it, exposed babies at least had a chance of survival.
As for the poll, much depends on the questions asked. The MSM usually ask something like, "Do you believe that a woman should have a constitutional right to choose?" Somehow that sounds different from a question that actually includes the word "abortion," which is why the MSM almost always avoids the word, except when they label pro-lifers as "anti-abortionists."
Even better, the MSM has a GUIDEBOOK that orders their reporters to use terms like "those who favor a woman's right to choose", and "those who OPPOSE a woman's right to choose" once in a while you'll even see the term "anti-choice". Or "opponents" of the "'so-called' partial birth abortion". This is a Dan Rather specialty.
That's changing too. The new term used by NARAL and the rest of the pro-abortion crowd is "anti-choice" George Orwell, where are you when we need you?

I don't know if abortion is worse than slavery or the holocaust. All I know is that all of these are tremendous evils and that abortion is still happening daily in this country that slavery and the holocaust both took wars to end. And I think that the left has become the new south--I fully expect to hear serious talk of California trying to leave the Union after Bush's victory on Nov 2d.
