So, let's see...
It's Free Speech for David Drier to run around the country, make political comments, do what ever he wants, say what ever he wants, go on TV, radio, etc...
But it's
A Federal Felony for two citizens who happen to have a radio program to run around the country, make political comments, do what ever they want, say what they want, on the radio (but not the TV, yet)....
I'm sure all the Bots hereabouts will have all sorts of twisted rationales for this. Almost as clever rationales as they came up with to explain the signing of McShame-SlimeGold in the first place ("don't worry. Rehnquist will kill it. It's only a ploy").

Last time I drove over there, the most common language wasn't English. It looks like you just drove thru "paisano" district. Not a good idea, especially with your view on things...it might affect your health!

They've been on a crusade to defeat Drier for his non-stand on the immigration issue. To be fair they also targed a Democrat to be defeated, too, so they didn't upset the balance in congress. "Fair and Balanced."

I hope I'm wrong. I fear we're gong the way of Rome. They thought that open borders were great until they realized that the barbarians had become the rulers. I fear we're headed that same way. Gibbon's Decline of the Roman Empire is one of the most frightening books I've read because it could have been written today.

ughhh! Double post. Sorry, I don;t know what happened.

I am voting for Bush. I am a lifelong Republican. I want the GOP to not only retain but to increase their margins in the House and the Senate. I have volunteered for several GOP campaigns. I have never voted for a Democrat in my life. I do not live in Drier's district, so I can't vote him out. Too bad.
There is a collective myopia going on in the GOP about illegal immigration. Forget the Dems, they are hopeless. The only hope is to get the attention of the GOP. Drier's defeat will do that
If something is not done about illegal immigration, California, Nevada, and Arizona will go bankrupt. Hospitals are closing down all over CA because of the clog caused in the emergency rooms by non-paying illegals. This is not to mention the overcrowded schools, gang violence, and crowded freeways.
Oh yeah, there is the voter fraud as well. One does not have to show ID to vote in CA
If this illegal immigration continues at the present rate, the GOP will find it harder and harder to win presidential elections. California used to be a safe GOP state. Now look at it. The GOP is fiddling while Rome burns.

Sorry, I misunderstood your post. What I meant was that I hope more people wake up soon to the dangers of open borders and what this invasion is doing to our country. Your compariso to Rome is correct.
To: janetgreen
We're most definitely in agreement.
To: fourscore
While Rome burns, Rove and the RNC are throwing gas on the fire. We can only hope Dreier's constituents toss him into the flames.

You don't get it do you? IMHO the number TWO problem facing this country close behind the threat of terrorism is illegal immigration.
If we are overrun by illegals and transform our country into a 3rd world socialist state, it won't matter what party someone claims to belong to.
"sacrificing' a Republican ( btw - the one with the worst record on illegal immigration) is a small price to pay to get national exposure to this issue and force the GOP to take it seriously.
Every phone call I received requesting support for the GOP I have denied and will continue to do so until Tom Tancrido is the poster boy of the GOP.
IMO again, if you are not part of the solution, your are the problem. John and Ken are a force to be reckoned with, ask Gray Davis.

You are the one who don't get it.
How does it help the country to throw out a Republican and elect in his place a far out left wing Democrat.
Did you bother to find out who Dreier's opponent is?

I miss your point. Are you glad Florio was ousted but are mad that it took high profile radio personalities to get it done?
As for ratings. If a politican did a lot of things that you liked you would vote for him right? and if a lot of people did the same he would have high 'ratings'. NO different for show hosts. J&K have one of the top rated shows in the country, mostly because they get things done.
They ask the hard questions and press for answers. Traits that FR seems to admire.

Think of it as an object lesson. The GOP has artfully avoided the issue of illegal immigration. (We know where the Dems stand on it - they favor it). This tactic, if successful will send a wake up call to Republicans all across the country.
And to your question - it quite possibly drives the point home harder if the beneficiary of the political human sacrifice is antithetical to GOP philosophy.

Problem is, this same thing could be used against Rush, Hannity, et al., by the Dems sometime. Love or hate John & Ken, this isn't a good thing.
