ABCNEWS HOLDS TERROR WARNING TAPE
**Exclusive**
In the last week before the election, ABCNEWS is holding on a videotaped message from a purported al Qaeda terrorist warning of a new attack on America, the DRUDGE REPORT has learned.
The terrorist claims on tape the next attack will dwarf 9/11. "The streets will run with blood," and "America will mourn in silence" because they will be unable to count the number of the dead. Further claims: America has brought this on itself for electing George Bush who has made war on Islam by destroying the Taliban and making war on Al Qaeda.
ABCNEWS strongly denies holding the tape back from broadcast over political concerns during the last days of the election.
The CIA is analyzing the tape, a top federal source tells the DRUDGE REPORT.
ABCNEWS obtained the tape from a source in Waziristan, Pakistan over the weekend, sources tells DRUDGE.
"We have been working 24 hours a day trying to authenticate [the tape]," a senior ABCNEWS source said Wednesday morning.
The terrorist's face is concealed by a head dress, and speaks in an American accent, making it difficult to identify the individual, but US intelligence officials believe that man may be Adam Gadhan - aka Adam Pearlman - a southern California native who was highlighted by the FBI in May as an individual most likely to be involved in or have knowledge of the next al Qaeda attacks.
According to the FBI, Gadahn, 25, attended al-Qaida training camps and served as an al-Qaida translator.
The disturbing tape runs an hour -- the man simply identifies himself as 'Assam the American.'

I agree it was appropriate to pass it to the goverment, but Bret Baier was pretty clear that ABC held onto the tape for at least 3-4 days and only turned it into the government a day or two ago.
Holding onto it for more than five minutes without alerting the government is downright criminal.
What if there'd been information on it that could prevent an attack and the attack happened while ABC news held onto it?
I think they gave it to the govt and they told them not to run it as is usual, looking for hidden signals in the tape and authenticating it.
I agree with abc not running it. It would be wrong to run it before the govt had their say.
I hope the US doesn't cave on this. We are not Spain.
FIGHT.
everyone watches DRUDGE.. he knows before anyone knows.

SKINNER????
hmmmm......so ABC is America's own Al Jareeeeeeeeeza now?
yes it is a problem for ABC if they held on to it for days before handing it over to CIA.
It's tough work but someone has got to do it!
I don't care how unPC that is, that's the funniest thing I've ever read on FR.
Brett just said on FOX from the Pentagon they think this is the guy.
the two pics together,,one looks like Lindh. They do not look like the same person to me.
I happen to agree with you... Better have it verified before airing.. I think they learned the lesson in what happend to CBS.. I think.. Also this could have been the last October surprise...
Wasn't ABC's Halpern the one who sent the memo around during debates that said that their journalists shouldn't treat Kerry and Bush equally, and that they (ABC) had a job to interpret for the viewers what the real issues were?
If they were in Pakistan and received the tape from a terrorist, why aren't they doing recon and reporting the movements back to the US?
Oh, that's right. Because they hate America.
BINGO!!!!
"don't you think they made a copy?"
Good point. Plus, ABC and others didn't have trouble showing other terrorist tapes while the CIA analyzed for authenticity. I can remember seeing tapes to learn afterward that they were authentic.
They held onto it for at least (2 days) before turning it over to the government!!!
