With Election Day almost upon us, it's not clear whether President Bush is running a campaign or plotting a coup d'etat. By all accounts, Republicans are spending these last precious days devoting nearly as much energy to suppressing the Democratic vote as they are to mobilizing their own.
Time was when Republicans were at least embarrassed by their efforts to keep African Americans from the polls.

The must think as long as it's DUmbocrats cheating, well then that's ok. After all they've been doing it for decades, why stop them now?
BAD IDEA. The Rats have 10,000 lawyers twitching on a hair-trigger, just waiting for the slightest whiff of "voter intimidation" so they can run to the nearest Courthouse with an already-drafted "fill-in-the-blanks" lawsuit. Let's hold signs and cheer, but let's not help the party of trial lawyers tie this election up in knots, ok? (If you want to have some fun at the Lib's expense, just wait till the morning after W's acceptance speech, and let's all e-mail photos of it to DU and other points South of Hell).
Canada!? I thought we were hitting Venezuela for all the oil we couldn't get out of Iraq!
I mean... uh, whoops... yeah, no coup here...
One more of many analyses which will appear in the coming weeks about why and how Kerry lost and that Bush is again an illegitimate president and has no mandate to govern.
The number of people who swallow liberal lies hook, line, and sinker is dwindling, but there are still enough swallowers to guarantee that the lies will keep coming.
There's plenty of oil in Canada. Plus the people are docile and make excellent slaves.
South of Hell is solid Bush country. Most Kerry voters are North of Virginia or West of Idaho.
"By all accounts, Republicans are spending these last precious days devoting nearly as much energy to suppressing the Democratic vote"
1) "By all accounts" is a weasely as "there's a growing perception"
2) We are devoting energy to keep you from cheating. Ensuring that your party's weasels follow the law is not suppressing the vote, its protecting it.
Man Arrested for Attempting to Kill Rep. Harris
I stand corrected.
In that case, I must live North of Hell, because the "S" on my compass points to Massachusetts. Of course, if you go far enough South from here, daylight once again emerges somewhere past D.C.

"Dear Mr. Meyerson,
I enjoy reading your writing for it's style and syntax. That said, it's hard to believe that your worldview could be so myopic, and, amazingy enough, that you would still be profferred a job as a writer.
You whine about the tone taken by the Republicans, in general, and Bush in specific, and how this is suppressive in nature towards minorities. You add a cunning touch, albeit smarmy and condescending, about Jefferson Davis (apparently hoping that some will subliminally project the word "racist" on the president's forehead every time we see him on television). You flippantly utilize the word "assiduously" with regard to the president's "[seeking to]...undermine the basic arrangements of American policy..."
Is it possible to be so blatantly partisan as to completely ignore any and all evidence to the contrary? In your case, apparently, it is possible.
Forty years ago the Daley machine in Chicago, and LBJ in Texas, amongst others, were renowned for their ability to get out the vote (GOTV pre-internet) particularly amongst those whose home addresses coincided with the local cemeteries. ACORN has admitted to massive irregularities amongst it's registration processes. Crack has been offered as monetary recompense for getting out the vote (in a primarily Democratic area). Republicans offices (to a MUCH greater degree than Democratic offices) have been robbed, vandalized, invaded, and disrupted.
As for your petulant "Who does Trakas think they are? Have tens of thousands of African Americans been sneaking over the state lines from Pittsburgh...", well, no. The Democrats don't need that kind of state crossing from Pittsburgh. They're only interested in the ones who can vote in Florida and New York at the same time (again Dems have much higher rates of two state voting than Repubs).
But, I digress. My original statement was a medical diatribe about pathologic myopia. The symptoms of this disease, in it's late stages, are as follows: "...result in a progressive and severe loss of vision."
I would send you a pair of glasses but I don't know your prescription strength.
Meyerson is an extremely bizarre leftist writer who more often than not has no ideas worth taking seriously. He simply copies the DNC's latest talking points without the slightest inkling of attention to facts.
His background tells it all. Aside from his column that the Post prints (he doesn't really represent the Post's editorial board opinion), he has been an editor and writer at the American Prospect and the L.A. Weekly. No wonder he's such a leftist shill.
Harold Meyerson is just another pig...
Mr Democrat believes you are still suppressing their vote, you should drive an African-American to the polls, make shure this voter votes for Kerry and if needed help punch the ballot for Kerry.
Shh. Libs don't associate oil with Canada.
What else is it good for?
