Scott Peterson's Defense Could Rest Tuesday Scott Peterson's defense team could rest its case Tuesday.
On Monday, his lawyer called on Peterson's mother to try to explain why he had nearly $15,000 in cash on him when he was arrested. She says she gave him back $10,000 that she accidentally withdrew from his account.
His lawyer also questioned police about whether someone else could have been responsible for the death of Scott's wife, Laci, and her baby.
Prosecutors say he killed her and dumped her body into the San Francisco Bay nearly two years ago.
The defense maintains ........
Jurors hear Scott Peterson talk golf while his wife's remains are tested
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. With the state crime lab working overtime to identify the bodies of his wife and child, Scott Peterson scheduled a golf game with his brother, according to a tape played for jurors Monday at his capital trial.
In a phone conversation secretly recorded by police on April 18, 2003, the day of his arrest, Peterson reluctantly canceled the morning tee time with his brother, Joe, saying he did not want photographs of him golfing out in the media.
He was also concerned about vehicles surveilling him.
"Oh, I can't lose these private investigators," Peterson told his older brother.

Parents: He wasn't fleeing country
Testimony focuses on the day of arrest
Scott Peterson wasn't trying to flee the country when he was arrested holding nearly $15,000 in cash and his brother's driver's license while driving a Mercedes-Benz he had recently purchased in his mother's name, his parents testified Monday.
He was just trying to play a game of golf with his father and brothers without being harassed by the media, followed by private investigators and scrutinized by Modesto police, they said.
Jacqueline Peterson took the stand in her son's defense. The San Diego woman, who suffers from a lung ailment, walked carrying her oxygen tank from her front row seat behind her son to a chair next to the judge's bench. "You are Scott Peterson's mother, right?" defense attorney Mark Geragos asked her.
"Proudly so, yes," she answered........

Parents explain defendant's actions
Scott Peterson's parents took the stand in his defense Monday and said there were perfectly reasonable explanations for why their son was arrested with his brother's driver's license, thousands of dollars in cash, and while driving a car he'd bought in his mother's name.
Jackie and Lee Peterson gave their son loving looks from across the courtroom, and explained away a litany of suspicious circumstances surrounding their son's April 2003 arrest. Their testimony proved most compelling in a day in which the defense focused on providing innocent explanations for Scott Peterson's seemingly odd behaviors.
Earlier in the day, defense attorney ........

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. - Laci Petersons mother told an investigator that her slain daughter informed her she was pregnant on June 9, 2002, the investigator testified Monday.
The testimony by Modesto Detective Craig Grogan was presented by the Scott Peterson defense to bolster the assertion by an expert last week that Laci Petersons fetus was still alive days after the eight-months-pregnant woman vanished just before Christmas 2002.
The expert witness, Dr.......

October 26, 2004 -- REDWOOD CITY, Calif. Scott Peterson dabbed at his eyes yesterday as his parents took the stand in his defense in an attempt to explain away evidence he tried to flee to Mexico.
The couple offered reasons that Peterson's car was loaded with $15,000 cash, his brother's ID, several bags of clothes and fishing and camping gear.
Scott's mother Jackie, who has a bronchial condition and breathes with an oxygen tank, testified she gave Scott approximately $8,000 to help another son, John, buy Scott's truck.
She said that when she realized she'd mistakenly withdrawn the money from a joint account with Scott, she gave him more cash from a different account.
She said she gave the latter chunk ........

Parents take responsibility for Scott Peterson's suspicious behavior
REDWOOD CITY, Calif. Scott Peterson's parents testified Monday that they were to blame for some of his strange behavior leading up to his arrest for the murders of his pregnant wife and unborn son.
Taking the stand in the final days of their youngest child's capital trial, Jacqueline and Lee Peterson offered the jury explanations for his suspicious conduct including posing as his mother to buy a Mercedes, carrying his brother's driver's license and traveling with almost $15,000 in cash.
The Petersons, who have attended almost every day of testimony in their son's five-month trial, were called as witnesses to combat prosecutors' claim that the fertilizer salesman was about to turn fugitive when police arrested him on April 18, 2003, four months after wife, Laci, disappeared.
Lee Peterson said he directed his son to get the license from his brother, John, that .........

"Scott Peterson's Defense Could Rest Tuesday"
PRAISE GOD! I am SOOOOO sick of hearing about this case. Just convict the murdering turd, give him a shot and put him to sleep. What will Greta talk about when this is all over?
Who's Scott Peterson? </sarcasm>
Robert Blake case....lol...
btw, I bet if someone dug back into his elementary school records they'd find;
'Dog ate Scott's homework -- AGAIN!'
His mother said she withdrew all that money thinking it was coming out of HER account, when in fact, it came out of Scott's.
If that is the case, why didn't she just deposit it back into the bank instead of giving Scott the cash? I am very suspicious. I think someone is lying.
hahaha.... maybe so! ;o)
Ladine signed the wire tap orders, I believe. Count on Geragos to attack those wire taps on appeal. Dead guys always vote for Democrats. With the death of Ladine, Geragos probably thinks he made a new friend.
Monster guilty!
This is far different in anchor uses verses the ocean!
you bet ya!
Holy Moses! I'm losing touch with the case. I didn't know this.
I think maybe she testified the way Geragos wanted it said to explain something that didn't occur. I am sure there are documentations of bank accounts/dates/withdrawals/registared account holders etc.......
a created lake vs an ocean? Come on Geragos, what are people, STUPID? ;o)
I think you're right!
