KERRY SPOT
Jim Miklaszewski of NBC News pretty much dismantled the New York Times attack on behalf of Kerry today.
NBC News: Miklaszewski: April 10, 2003, only three weeks into the war, NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they temporarily take over the Al Qakaa weapons installation south of Baghdad. But these troops never found the nearly 380 tons of some of the most powerful conventional explosives, called HMX and RDX, which is now missing. The U.S. troops did find large stockpiles of more conventional weapons, but no HMX or RDX, so powerful less than a pound brought down Pan Am 103 in 1988, and can be used to trigger a nuclear weapon. In a letter this month, the Iraqi interim government told the International Atomic Energy Agency the high explosives were lost to theft and looting due to lack of security. Critics claim there were simply not enough U.S. troops to guard hundreds of weapons stockpiles, weapons now being used by insurgents and terrorists to wage a guerrilla war in Iraq. (NBCs Nightly News, 10/25/04)
If Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had a shred of concern over her paper's reputation for getting the facts right never mind objectivity or fairness, she would be running the correction - or at least this blatantly contradictory information - in the giant headline font and above-the-fold location that today's story got. But I guess the interest in echoing the sentiments of Maureen Dowd is more important than getting it right at the Old Gray Lady.
I suspect artillery shells contian something like RDX or it in combination with some other high detonation velocity explosive. Bombs do, that's why the VC would remove the explosive filler from dud shells and bombs. (A dud would be a result of a bad fuse, usually).
TTTHANKS, you litrit foo!
DON'T MESS WITH BUSH!!
The rats can't have it both ways as Monday morning quarterbacks. Too soon, too late? Not enough troops? Too much money? Fund, don't fund. Invade, wait for santions and the UN? I say bullshit.
I do know my Cowboy's sucked yesterday at Lambert Field and I could revise some play calling and shoot #41, however, I'll stay with these guys and I know they tried their best.
I'll also stay with GWB and not stab him or his wonderful Armed Forces in the back.
I say examine your heart and vote!
Yep, Something else I just thought of as well, Hawaii has many churches here (like one on every corner) and many denominations. There also is a huge Mormon presence which btw owns The Polynesian Culture Center. Many Hawaiians get cable and broadban access as well (not much to do on an island at night:-). They are very intuned to whats happening in this election, and let us not forget of a constant reminder (Pearl Harbor). There are many old folks here that lived through that, know a few and have heard their stories. These people don't want another terrorist attack on their homeland.
LOL. That's an intentional mistake. I'm sure I won't be the only one to point it out. You'll see the same mistake made with serious ('seriesly!'), and there will often be references to Viking Kitties, moose, cheese, and ZOT (among others)! Those are all early Freeper lingo. I can't give you the origin as I wasn't here, but you can find out where it came from here, I promise. Check out the history of Free Republic thread--I think it's on the homepage.
It doesn't "ignite" it like a conventional fuse or cap ignites chemical explosives. It compresses it, converting a sub-critical mass to a critical mass. (Critical mass depends on geometry and density, as well as isotope ratios and such)
The left listens to the wrong people -- again! LOL!

Written on Word Perfect, of course?
What's the latest number on the crowd?
You Phailled marsupially to axplane thee oblivious...iamstunedbeyondprecognition!!
Well, if it does... we need to condense it into an easy to understand 5 word or less soundbyte and start plastering it all over the place.
Would someone please explain why HMX and RDX are of more concern than TNT?
I just don't get it.
The official is full of crap. That's what you're missing. This NBC report shows that the explosives weren't there when the coalition-led forces got there in the first place! The anonymous official (pictured in 736) is full of SeeBS.
HMX can be used to ignite fissile material but YOU STILL NEED FISSILE MATERIAL, don't you . . . ?

They may be aware of what's buried (pun unintentional) under this story - who's involved in moving, aiding, abetting...that this story may have loooonnng legs and they don't want to be on the wrong side.
rats do that =, remember - desert the sinking ship
and the UN also,
Kerry looks like a complete fool for trying to make an issue of this - and for mentioning it (or something of this nature) in the debates.
