KERRY SPOT
Jim Miklaszewski of NBC News pretty much dismantled the New York Times attack on behalf of Kerry today.
NBC News: Miklaszewski: April 10, 2003, only three weeks into the war, NBC News was embedded with troops from the Army's 101st Airborne as they temporarily take over the Al Qakaa weapons installation south of Baghdad. But these troops never found the nearly 380 tons of some of the most powerful conventional explosives, called HMX and RDX, which is now missing. The U.S. troops did find large stockpiles of more conventional weapons, but no HMX or RDX, so powerful less than a pound brought down Pan Am 103 in 1988, and can be used to trigger a nuclear weapon. In a letter this month, the Iraqi interim government told the International Atomic Energy Agency the high explosives were lost to theft and looting due to lack of security. Critics claim there were simply not enough U.S. troops to guard hundreds of weapons stockpiles, weapons now being used by insurgents and terrorists to wage a guerrilla war in Iraq. (NBCs Nightly News, 10/25/04)
If Jill Abramson, managing editor of the New York Times, had a shred of concern over her paper's reputation for getting the facts right never mind objectivity or fairness, she would be running the correction - or at least this blatantly contradictory information - in the giant headline font and above-the-fold location that today's story got. But I guess the interest in echoing the sentiments of Maureen Dowd is more important than getting it right at the Old Gray Lady.
Doesn't anyone research a story on their own anymore???
ping
Time for another Clinton relapse.
you know the best part of Matts display?
It will be DRAWN OUT over the coming week.
No details from Matt at the moment! L0L
Go Matt Go!
Oh yeah, I'm prepared. Even Rush told his audience to prepare for the most ugly and nasty week in American politics.
When there are two camps in the the Kerry campaign, there's bound to be miscommunication and confusion. This is just an example of it.
Sure, but the NY Times is not very pleasant for one's behind.... although it does make decent kindling for the fireplace, so I guess I left out one use for it.....
John Kerry is on the way to inject sheep cells into the Old Gray Lady.
Nah, I suspect it took him awhile reading all of our heads up e-mails!
At 9:35 pm central Fox is still reporting this story. What's up with them?
The Democrats set out their traps for themselves to step into.
"10 tons of Sarin, ten tons of mustard gas and a suitcase full of biocrud can not."
Do you have links to this information? I thought they just found a few shells....
Hmmm , Rathergate...a great story, but where is it now?
Lets drag it out to reinforce the current story!!
Go to it guys
this would be ex[plosive if a tie could be made - per my post: So? did the UN - who was, we now know - as apposed to suspect - was playing footsie with Saddam,,,did the UN get them off somewhere or allow Saddam too - before we got there. After all, Saddam had the UN over a barrel (pun intentional) with the dirty oil-for-food deals - blackmail? Saddam: "Let me get these damn things hidden, since you and our buddies, France and Germany, don't seem be able to stop Bush, as you assured me you could." ? - Where, oh where are the old time investigative reporterss?
Ahhh! they come in jammies now!
You must not be familiar with the term "Devil's Advocate" then. It's one way of getting a good debate started on any issue. Brit Hume is a top-notch journalist who knows how to effectively draw out discussion among the panelists. If they all just agreed, you'd get to watch them sit around the desk and nod. It's much better to arouse people to THINK.
Yes you did, I was just trying to remember where I had seen that idea before. If this is true Karl Rove is brilliant. Now let's hope the media will report this correctly.
