In practicality, I guess, socialism is the gradual seizure of all property from private hands by legal means through an elected government, while communism is the forcible seizure of property by an unelected government of "worker's councils".
You probably aren't surprised to learn that the left wingers adore Stalin and Communism. The 32 million lives were "necessary to expend in order to achieve our goals of equality."
