After our offensive explosion the other day, I'm sure Galen has pulled what few hairs he has left out of his head. Coaching along side Joe and Jay will do that to even the best of them.

Maybe it is good for Bush! It's going to make Florida a lot happier.

If Foley doesn't try to get Spurrier back, he should be fired, too. He's the genius who hired Zook after barely skimming the top of the talent pool.

The players did like Zook, they are going to play hard for him the rest of the way. The timing of the announcement is bad news for UGA.

And if Zook beats Georgia again, UGA should fire Richt

Sorry.....I think you'll be looking across the field at him for another 20 years.

It's a University of Florida sports thing. Only a "Gator" would understand. No impact on the election.

I went to PSU, in my opinion, the football program went downhill not because of Paterno, but because Penn State used to be independent ... and would each year play such teams as Alabama, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Miami, Notre Dame, etc. ...

Now they are stuck playing conference games in the Big 10 ... and the talent is going elsewhere ...

Please take Bill Parcells off the Cowboys' hands.

I'm hearing Bob Stoops. Stoops has refused contract extensions at OU and is big buddies with Spurrier who he vacations with. Stoops still owns a vacation home in Florida and almost had the job 3 years ago but couldn't work out a way to get out of the OU contract. That contract ends Jan 2005.

As a Seminole I say, DADGUMMIT! This means they may end up with a competent coach. I was hoping Zooker would be able to hang on.

Not competent enough to avoid a humiliating defeat at Doak on November 20. GO NOLES!!!!

Maybe Zook can go back to being Defensive Coordinator for the Saints. He did a pretty decent job here, the Saints could sure use him.

Are you kidding, the year before he came to UF, the Saints had the worst collapse in NFL, their defense was ripped to shreds in the last four games. Everyone at UF noted this when Zook was first hired.

Would you guys want Spurrier back? I'm guessing yes.

As for Steve, he'll want what all talented, successfull coaches want in a new position---a school with a rich football tradition, a strong alumni base and a natural, talent-rich recruiting base.

Florida fits all three, but so does Texas.

I know he's a "Florida Gator", but Georgia's ascendency in the SEC East and LSU's in the West (they are annual opponents), added to always having to compete on multiple levels with Fla. St. and Miami...wow, it's hard to maintain excellence with all that to overcome year in, year out.

Either way, he can't lose. If he heeds to call of all Gator fans to "come home" and fix what's broken AND regains the dominance they once had, the man is totally set...not to say he wasn't when he left.

I was at a wedding attended by several Bull Gators this weekend... not only was there already talk of Zook not surviving the week, but there was much discussion about most boosters willingness to 'do whatever was necessary,' and 'get rid of whoever had to be gotten rid of' to bring Spurrier back. I DO NOT think he will come back... but many folks with the horsepower to make it happen want to see the ball coach back as AD AND Head Coach.

Too bad Penn State will be saddled with Joe for another 4 years. I just hope he can turn it around to save his legacy.

Dumbest thing Penn St did was join the big ten. It has destroyed the once independant and proud tradition of Penn St. Oh well.. Go Bucks! Same would happen to Notre Dame if they joined. Too much competition (though Notre Dame sucks nowadays anyways).

Speaking as a Vol fan, I hope this doesn't mean the return of Spurrier. I love the fact that his last home game was a loss to the Vols. I want to keep it that way. Sorry UF fans, but this is football not politics. Vote no on Spurrier.

I've heard two rumors: One, Spurrier is going to North Carolina. Two, Texas has been talking to Spurrier because Mack can't beat OK.

My guess is FL is talking to Bob Stoops. He could get a huge contract.
