I'm afraid you're correct on this one. They will spin it to bash GW.
This is NOT the Monday morning Kerry story. The blogs are now saying that it will run on page one of the WAPO. If it's there, however, I can't imagine it hurting Kerry...unless the WAPO staff have lost their kneepads.

Yup, the story is that the theft of the high explosives was "hushed up" to save political embarrassment for Bush that Kerry has courageously exposed. These explosives have been killing US troops ever since and it's all Bush's fault - if he'd only foreseen this possibility and ordered the confiscation of all munitions in 2003, all this could have been avoided, don't ya see.
And if you don't think the Times can make this nonsense into an October surprise, you don't know the MSM.
