You are correct. Plenty of weapons in Iraq. By shortage of weapons I had in mind the type of weapon(s) being issued to Iraqi Army recruits by the US, of which I have no knowledge. Of course any combat rifle would have been far better than being unarmed. I can't imagine any reason for them being unarmed, except perhaps that they were not trusted. But that makes little sense either.
So because I mention Christians celebrating Christmas free of reprecussions, that means I think there are no good Muslims there?
Interesting, if horribly flawed, chain of logic you have there.
Well that is one awful thought.
Vietnam, as you mentioned, is good example. We roped off large sections of Hanoi that we would not bomb because we were nice guys.
Whoever decided to back off Fallujah in April -- State Department or Pentagon -- made a similar mistake. Our leaders made a lot of threats that we embarrassingly failed to follow up on. We might have been trying to play it clever, and wait for our Iraqi allies to get training.
But the unintended result was to make the enemy look untouchable, and things spun out of control.
Send in the Marines!
Police said guerrillas disguised as police had set up a checkpoint on a road northeast of Baghdad and stopped three minibuses carrying the recruits, forcing them to leave the vehicles and lie face down on the tarmac before shooting them.
A dozen recruits tried to flee but were also shot.
Why would they have been killed if they weren't collaborating with the U.S.?
Please get that jerk out of your knee.
49 Iraqi's working with us to liberate Iraq from insurgents are killed and you call them "so called American collaboraters(sic)".
Your response is jerky and so was your original comment.
Thanks.
whatever or just let me say however you take it or what you read into it. You are looking for an argument. Argue with yourself.
I was just responding to what was written. If what was written is not what you meant then great, just correct the record. I would have gladly thanked you for the clarification.
I'm not a mind reader. Ya didn't have to get snippy about it.
how could the terrorists have KNOWN they were unarmed UNLESSS someone in charge of their movements or with access to their status... passed on that information?
we gotta face it...
the Iraqi 'army' is rife with traitors who are loyal to the terrorists, and up high enough to pass on sensitive data, like where troop carriers are headed as well as their armament level and capabilities.
this is the nature of guerilla warfare.
not a quagmire.
Our Iraqi allies are running a tab on the cost of liberty, in their own blood.
The foreign terrorists and their sympathizers in the Iraqi forces, must be uncovered and killed. A work no doubt, in progess as we speak.
Hundred dead in Iraq attacks - Jun 25, 2004
They handed out leaflets warning Iraqis not to work with US-led occupation authorities. "The flesh of collaborators is tastier than that of Americans," the leaflets say.
Abu-Musab Al-Zarqawi's April 29, 2004 Audiotape Message
5- We should not forget the army of Jordanian translators and collaborators that support the occupiers and those that are looking for the Arab Mujahidin, whom the Americans are incapable of distinguishing. In addition to the fleet of trucks that moves food, Jordanian trucks transport supplies and trailers for the Americans to use in the war on the Al-Mujahidin.
Six U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq bombings
In an unrelated attack, a police captain was killed Wednesday in a drive-by shooting near Baqouba, officials said. Insurgents regularly target Iraq's security forces, which are seen as collaborators with the United States and its allies.
The Swiss and the Israelis have the right idea. Let the soldiers keep their weapons at all times.
Do you know the story of Adam & Eve? How about Noah and the Ark? Saul of Tarsus on the Damascus Road?
How do you know what stories are well known among Islamic people?
I don't understand this. I have a friend who is working security in Iraq. He was home for a couple of weeks earlier this month and told me a lot of the folks who you would think are armed aren't. Soldiers, even new recruits, are targets for the enemy and should be armed even if they haven't had extensive weapons training. Show them how to load, clean and which end the bullet comes out of, at least, and then give them .45s or something. Maybe this incident will change that.
We lost about 250 Marines in Beirut in 1984 when militants blew past Marine guards that had no bullets in their weapons.
The problem now is that the Iraqi Army probably didnt take the threat seriously. Sometimes it takes an attack like this to wake us up. This may be Iraqs 9-11 .
With all the death and violence they've had in Iraq for the last 30 years or so, I can't believe that 50 dead guys is going to be an eye-opening 9/11 type experience. It would be nice, but I hope it's enough to get them armed.
No, because you mentioned Christians, who are a very SMALL percentage of the population in Iraq, means you are "horribly biased" towards thinking predominantly about the VERY FEW Christians who have been killed in Iraq.... When, as is plainly evident by THIS VERY THREAD, there are plenty of Muslims who are dying every day in Iraq.
It is NOT just Christians who are dying, and this thread had absolutely NOTHING to do with Christianity, yet you elected to bring it into the thread. Which shows your "horribly biased" Christian-slant view of things.
You can go to this site to play the tv interview: http://www.memritv.org/#
I'm surprised no one on the bus was armed.
