Unless, I've missed a major change, the UN charter specifically forbids any national of the permanent council members from being Secretary General.

Can you please link or cite the section of the UN Charter or whatever you are basing your statement on that prohibits a permanent Council member from becoming Sec. Gen..... This has been spoken as truth here on FR for sometime now but so far no one has been able to produce the UN Device that does this Prohibition....

Any help would be greatly appreciated..... Thanks.

It doesn't. un charter. It's a precedent as far as I can find. Maybe the charter has amendments?
