Powerlineblog.org: We Just Got A Tip (Breaking Story on Kerry?)
Powerline ^ | 10/23/04

We just got a tip......that a major newspaper will break a front-page story Monday morning that could create a serious problem for the Kerry campaign. We don't yet have any details, but it relates to a foreign policy issue, and it will call into question--amazingly enough--John Kerry's truthfulness.

We'll watch for the story Sunday night and post it as soon as it becomes available.

Just to summarize what we know: It's concerning foreign policy and some form of lie associated with that subject. It's concerning sKerry and things he said or did that are contradictory it's not huge but significant enough to rate front page in a decent sized respectable newspaper that is not genrally considered to be conservative. Several bloggers were involved in the research if not the actual writing of the article. The Washington Times is running with the story, but not neccessarily breaking it. "Like Josh Marshal....only real" leads one to believe it could be memo related at least the substantiation is. Now if your theory does not fit these facts, your probably wrong

No, Kerry is supporting the KLA. Remember that Wes Clarke was in command of US forces in Kosovo and it shows him at this Kerry fundraiser. Richard Holbrooke does the talking, however and tells the KLA people that they better donate to Kerry if they don't want Bush to pull support. The video is all about the KLA (Albanian Muslims) struggle against the Serbs. I sure this is the reason that Putin has come out in support of Bush.

I would be the last one to dispute your post or the reasoning behind it. I am just beginning to feel that the majority of the people I speak to would rather be influenced by appearance and not truth. I have written to JLO and others that in no way will this election end on November 2nd. "Fight like hell, go down swinging, die in place."
Not only does it have a nice ring to it, but it happens to be how I feel. Now can someone answer where kerry is speaking in Boca today? If I can't spead some truth, maybe I can share my flu with someone.

I was wondering why I hadn't gotten any response from anyone about the video. I guess they are all trying to watch it at once. Richard Holbrooke and Wes Clarke should go to jail for this.

I think you have just about covered all the bases. This is indeed a Cold Civil War election. The rampant election fraud that is now accepted as part of the democrat voting machine is out in the open for all but the deliberately blind to see. The socialist, anti-American, anarchist, agenda of the liberal left has never been more obvious or blatant. The stakes are too high for a Mr. Nice Guy approach. Time to unload all the artillery while it still counts.

I just saw a post that reprinted a March 1999 Boston Herald story reporting that Sen. Kerry wanted to arm the KLA.

Eva, thanks, here is the reprint:

Controversial plan to arm Kosovar rebels draws fire
by Andrew Miga
Saturday, March 27, 1999
Boston Herald

WASHINGTON - As NATO bombs began hitting Yugoslavia, Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.)
was among the first to float an intriguing plan: arming Kosovar Albanian rebels
in war-torn Kosovo against the Serbs.

``We could conceivably arm the Albanians,'' said Kerry. ``That may be their
fight for independence.'' Several other politicians, diplomats and former
Cabinet officials such as Zbigniew Brezinski, the former national security
adviser to President Carter, also chimed in, signaling support for arming
Kosovar rebels this week.

Sens. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.), offered a
proposal yesterday to spend $25 million to build up the Kosovo Liberation Army
if the airstrikes failed to halt the Serbs' aggression.

``I'm sure that we spent more than $25 million the first night of bombing,''
McConnell said.

But what kind of ally would America, and NATO, be gaining?

The Kosovo Liberation Army has ties to Islamic fundamentalist groups and
European organized crime that could be hard for many Americans to swallow.

Muslim extremists in Iran and elsewhere have provided military support for the
KLA, according to congressional sources. The Kosovo guerillas are not directly
aligned with Islamic fundamentalist movements, however. Their aim is a free
Kosovo.

Money has also flowed to the Kosovar rebels from organized criminal elements in
Europe, the sources added.

The KLA's unsavory allies underscore the complexity allied leaders face as they
pursue peace in the volatile mix of ethnic, nationalistic and religious
passions that dominate the Balkans.

Kerry's informal proposal, on its face, could permit NATO forces to avoid a
ground war as Kosovo guerillas take up the fight against Serb aggression in the
province of Serbia.

A bipartisan group of senators Thursday announced plans to file a bill that
would earmark $25 million to arm and equip the Kosovars so they can defend
themselves.

The White House yesterday was cool to the idea of arming the KLA, insisting
that NATO air strikes would prove effective against Yugoslav President Slobodan
Milosevic.

``We are pursuing a different track right now ... that lessens the military
clashes in Kosovo rather than increase them,'' said Clinton spokesman Joe
Lockhart. ``We are trying to demilitarize Kosovo and remove weapons, rather
than increase the flow of weapons there.''

Other voices on Capitol Hill echoed the White House line.

Kerry's Bay State colleague Sen. Edward M. Kennedy (D-Mass.), through a
spokesman, said the senator opposed arming the KLA, or having Congress consider
taking any other action that might undermine the ongoing NATO air strikes.

The lightly armed Kosovo Liberation Army, which has less than 15,000 guerillas
spread out across a province roughly the size of Connecticut, wages a
hit-and-run warfare against Serb repression. Most are armed with AK-47 assault
rifles.

Some 90 percent of Kosovo's population is ethnic Albanian, the remaining 10
percent is mostly Serbian.

The White House said the KLA is not using NATO air attacks as a pretext for
launching new raids against Serb oppressors.

``The bulk of this is initiated by the Serb forces,'' said Lockhart.

It's a Kerry fundraiser, with big Kerry/Edwards sign on a screen in back of Holbrooke. They show the KLA people writing the checks to the Kerry campaign and say that the political system is so corrupt that all they have to do is write checks and buy influence. I'm not sure if that is before or after you hear Holbrooke asking for the donations because if Bush gets back in, he will pull support for the KLA. It's illegal to accept donations from foreign countries, on top of the fact that Holbrooke is telling these people that they can't trust Bush.

Telegraphing your punches reduces their effectiveness, as Sinclair discovered (assuming they ever really had any intention of running the full POW movie).

We would be less than diligent to gloss over the fact that an extreme socialist journalist is beating the bricks for his revelation outside the Sinclair board room. This fact confirms the truth of Sinclair's intentions.

One more question... Is there any way to know that the Kerry campaign actually knowingly accepted the money??? If so, game over.
